Sundowner Motel

Lovely and immaculate retro roadside hotel perfect for a one night stayover or more. Our room had the best heat of the trip and the first time we'd seen a mattress pad heater on a bed in 30 years which we also loved!. Short drive to cute downtown/breakfast, it looks walkable, but it is not because that road is too busy. Set back from the road, but if road noise is a concern, request a room facing the back and you won't hear the road noise at all.

Very disappointed we didn't get what I booked which was the accessibility unit. The first question i asked when i rang to book was.... do you have a accessibility unit???The unit we got was not suitable for someone on a walker. This made things difficult to move around, and unable to use shower. We were offered the accessibility unit the second night which meant I had to pack up our belongings and transfer to unit at front of motel and unpack again. The accessibility unit was excellent, roomy and warm. My booking did have ' husband on walker which anyone would know the first unit would not be suitable for. Everything else eg. The hosts are wonderful - very friendly and accommodating. Love the location - easy walk into town. Rooms a bit dated but spotlessly clean so easy to overlook that. Stayed here previously and will be back.

Very clean. Great and friendly people. If you book a pickup at rail station, make sure you look for person holding your name. They have washer and dryer for a few dollars per wash. No A/C units. Rooms have mobil fans. TV has Satellite package, which was great. Mexican food truck in parking lot open for dinner. Would stay here again if ever in Greymouth.

Excellent stay here. Lovely view of town, quiet, convenient location, and well appointed room. We also appreciated the little bottle of fresh milk we were given for our tea and coffee.
