Personalised stargazing tours available for house guests and casual visitors using our large research grade telescope. The observatory’s rotating dome on the observing deck high above the accommodation building is surrounded by native bush at our dark sky site. Join us to discover the delights of the southern night sky. Identify constellations and stars and explore the Moon, planets and galaxies. Hear Morepork owls and maybe Kiwis calling from bush. Handle meteorites older than the earth and walk through our scale model solar system or explore the history of the Universe with our geological and astronomical timeline. Alternatively take our daytime tour and explore the Sun and view bright stars and planets. Special hydrogen α solar telescope available on request.
