St Vincent de Paul Shop Onehunga
"Vinnies Op shops are a well-established and much-loved part of the Kiwis retail landscape. Aside from being op-shop mecca for fans of all things quality and thrift, the shops often act as the first point of contact for people seeking emergency assistance such as food and clothing; thereby playing a central role to the operations of the Society of St Vincent de Paul."

I love this shop. The staff are so helpful and friendly and I love the $1 rack - half my wardrobe is from there :- Today I got a pair of Topshop leather shoes and handbag for $5 each. When I was very sick with Covid, my family received a food parcel from Vinnies. A God sent during very hard times. Go St Vincent de Paul and your amazing friendly staff and all the good work you do for the community!
I have been a patron of this Op shop for many years when I was in need, Brother PeterGod rest his soul was a true empathetic, non-judgemental Catholic. Unfortunately, over the years commercial imperatives have dictated their practices. It does not sadly, cater for the poor! I too, have overheard some overt racist comments from some of the staff on more than one occasion. Frederic Ozanam would not be pleased! “Yours must be a work of love, of kindness, you must give your time, your talents, yourselves”.
Favourite second hand shop. Bargins galore, interesting and unusual pieces from by gone days. Affordable. Great customer service.
Just not the same, in store some prices of the donated second hand items are sold with a higher price tag compared to it being bought new. And bargaining for items that have just entered the store isn't an option anymore. Values for furniture went from costing anything from $15 - $150 to $250 - $800 . Will upload photos next visit
Excellent op shop. Best stocked op shop on this road. Clean and tidy with friendly outgoing staff
A great , busy little opshop. Cheap clothes and books. They know their prices on bric-a-brac etc so harder to get an absolute bargain score in that dept but they seem to have a pretty high turnover of stock so often find something of interest anyway. It's all for a good cause so no complaints and always enjoy visiting.
Absolutely unprofessional service! The customer service from the two men who oversaw what we wanted to donate was uninviting, rude and unprofessional. They didn't thoroughly inspect our belongings and called their manager within a few minutes - complaining loudly that we had too many things to donate, knowing we could hear them! They then ended up not taking anything, even though everything was in GOOD quality. They instantly judged our house, said it was too dark, they couldn't see and that we had too many things to donate- which is completely ironic given this is a CHARITY organization. We did not appreciate the lack of respect and hospitality. This is unacceptable and appalling behavior from a 'charity'. Incredibly disappointing as these could have gone to families in need of clothes and a bed for Christmas. The main reception were also incredibly rude to us when we simply asked to speak with one of their staff, only to be harshly shut down that they don't work there which they do as we spoke with them the other day. It's clear that their staff don't seem to give a sh*t about their overall mission statement to help families in NEED, and instead choose to be rude and vile to their customers who want to help. So for that- we will be going to OTHER charities who take their work seriously and treat others with RESPECT! If I could rate 0/10 I would- I do NOT recommend this service to anyone because they DO NOT deserve it. Thanks.
So many things but seems overpriced
Far, far too expensive and in some cases more than retail. Charity shops are suppose to b helping people in need but sadly I have found St Vincent Charity shop in Onehunga is just ripping people off! For example duver inners, queen size $20!! Brand new at Briscoes $18 all sizes 300gsm 8-9th nov. Went in today and they wanted $45 for a second hand Greek wool rug in good condition, but, Crackerjacks had them slightly larger brand new for $50 - I actually bought one! Clearly their pricing needs reviewing. I'd b keeping a wide berth from this shop as u can find better deals elsewhere. U have been or warned
Dropped off items and also bought a few items from the store. The staff were so amazing and efficient. They didn't pick and choose what they wanted to take they were just grateful to receive goods to sell and help others.
