Great venue, dim lighting inside with a modern steak house ambiance. Food was great compared to other venues in New Plymouth, great service too. Nice starters, chicken firecracker was great, beef carpaccio too and the chicken liver. Good scotch fillet steak and sides were tasty, yummy potatoes. All meant to be shared so nice if you are a couple or a big group. I'd go there for the beef again.

An absolute must if you are anywhere near New Plymouth. Staff, food, ambience all outstanding. Attentive service by a great team who work well together. Dishes are all sharing but maybe have your own lemon cheese cake . Reasonable prices.

This bistro kitchen offers an extensive selection of sharing plates that are all pretty amazing . From savory to sweet, there's something to please every palate. Highly recommend for a deliciously diverse dining experience.

Cauliflower was $20 and while really yummy, I was stunned at the cost of everything.n- we were asked if we wanted the tap or sparkling water. We asked for sparkling, $13.50....nn- room was loud and really hotnnWould I visit again, probably not. A weeks food shopping spent on one nights dinner.nnOverall bill of $205 for 2 of us for dinner. No booze, no dessert, just our sparkling water, 1 main and 4 side dishes as recommended by the wait staff.

Disappointing experience for a special occasion. Beef was virtually impossible to cut.it was SO TOUGH! I could not even eat it. Service was just a bit off. You know how wait staff can really elevate and make an experience feel special.. this was not the case and the service just lacked passion and care. Very sadly one of our guests could not make it due to being required at A+E with an ill family member who had taken a nasty fall and they still required payment for their meal. Understand the restaurants need to plan for numbers and food etc but we thought it was bad taste given the circumstances. I have dined at social kitchen many times over the years and it’s always been great but tonight it did not hit the mark and felt lacklustre to say the least.nA real opportunity for the service to level up and become more customer focussed and friendly!nMy suggestion would be give shining peak a go for outstanding service and people willing to go the extra mile to deliver on excellent service!
