For previous players and supporters of Silverdale Rugby.
You will no doubt be aware that approx. 15 years ago the SILVERDALE OLD BOYS (SOBS) was set up by Stu Flexman, Warner Holder, Gary Hick and a band of other helpers. The aim of the group was to foster an Old Boys Club within the Club and also to provide some financial support to assist running the club. So usually twice a year, the Old Boys have met for a luncheon at the club prior to a PREMIER home game. The afternoons are spent renewing old acquaintances over a couple of ales and enjoying watching the current Premier team perform.
The SOBS has worked well over the past 15 years, with membership comprising mainly of Old Boys from the 1940's, 50's, 60's and 70's eras. However, Stu, Warner and Gary feel with the passage of time they have had a good innings and now wish to pass the baton onto to a younger group to run the SOBS.
Therefore, we wish to announce it is time for the changing of the guard and there will be new management running the SOBS effective immediately.
The new management's main aim is to widen the net of our Old Boys and include more recently retired Old Boys from the 90's and 2000's as well as the older eras. While we can never forget the older generation who established the club and steered it through the "hard years", we have a great opportunity to boost our numbers with more recent Old Boys and become a powerful force to do good for the club - as well as catching up with Old team mates a couple of times a year.
