Any stay in Whitianga should involve a minimum of one drink or some food, or both, at Smitty's on Albert Street. It was a Friday and we were just overnighting, so before dinner, we went for a quick drink at Smitty's, which turned into a couple, as we simply had to stay and play 'Spin the Wheel'. Sadly we didn't win, but even as obvious Brits, were made to feel so welcome.nnThe beer selection was great and I also couldn't help noticing Espresso Martin on draft....what an idea that is !nnAs I said, we were eating at our place the Beachside comes highly recommended by the way - see separate review, we didn't stay for food, but there is a big kitchen and a look at the menu and a quick peek at what was coming out for others gave me the warm and fuzzies; would have no issues recommending it on that basis.
We had a fantastic meal! The service was great and the atmosphere and sports memorabilia was amazing! Highly recommend a visit to Smitianga!
Ordered kids burgers and chips which were given a thumbs up, I got the Korean sweet n spicy wings which were very over cooked but flavour was nice. Also got the Smitty burger and chips which was nice but I think the combination doesn't work for me. Got the st Luis ribs which again were quite over cooked but flavour was really good. I think all chips could have been cooked a little longer but that's just as I like a good crunch. Cheers
Amazing place with fantastic selection of yummy food that are of great size! The service was excellent… such friendly staff and made me a great espresso martini! Will definitely be back
The food is epic, the price is good and the staff are amazing.nThe only reason it is not a 5 star is due the fact they have enclosed smoking area with big open doors into the main inside area. This caused the whole place to be filled with smoke. It was the same levels an 80s restaurant where smoking was allowed inside. This ruined the experience totally.
