Had a family brunch here! Everyone was able to find something to enjoy. The Under 5s had fries and sourdough toast. Three vegan options: Fried Rice, Granola, and Coffee Roasted Beetroot with Freekah. I went for the Spinach & Cheese scroll with whipped butter. It was a really delicious bread. I also had the Tan Slice. A super smooth caramel filling and lovely walnut and biscuit topping. Family had multiple coffees and tried the Eggs Benedict with Bacon. It looked good and they scraped the plates clean.
I had high expectations for Smith café, new to Napier and enjoying finding new places, the coffee was fabulous, food ok, some amazing - OMG toast is yum. What I was surprised at, and I don't mind paying good money for good food - but the pancakes were $30 for 3 piklet size, soggy with bacon and had to pay extra for maple syrup!! All staff bar 1 were lovely; however one waitress was rude, spoke harshly to one of our group who got mixed up with his order he has dementia - I was so shocked. When I went to explain after, she presented as sarcastic and arrogant, the manager stood by and did nothing. Shame.
We were in Napier for the weekend and this place was recommended to us by our AirBnB hosts. There was a short queue for a table but we waited less than 5 minutes. We were shown to a table and given menus. It was quite busy and you could tell the staff were a bit under the pump but they were still friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and the coffee was pretty good too. If I was in town I would come again.
Great wee food establishment. Friendly staff, good communication from the start regarding waiting times as they were short staffed. Waiting time was very reasonable considering. Beautiful food and very reasonable pricing. Obviously a popular place for dining, and easy to see why. Highly recommend to all. Have posted a couple of snaps, sorry if the names of the dishes are not correct.
South African ladies get- together: Manager went way beyond usual service to accommodate our dietary needs. Food was VERY delicious, well presented and staff extra friendly. Great coffee too. Thanks, will definitely be back.
I came in this morning with long life friends who I haven’t seen in years. Unfortunately the food was terrible, and even after telling staff members that we were not happy with our meals, they did not do anything to even resolve the issue and expected me to pay full price, which was not only overpriced, I also left hungry as the portions were very small. I will not be returning, as i left as a disappointed customer.
We all loved our brunch, the menu is really interesting. I chose the fried rice, which I thoroughly recommend. Lovely coffee and great serviceFood: 5/5
We went there for breakfast this morning service was ok but food was very subpa roastis were burnt and it seemed as if they had run out of hollandaise as there was barely enough to cover the eggs and was very disappointed when staff were not interested hearing about any of our complaints this cafe has really gone down hill in the last year or so will definitely not be eating there again. Not to mention they were very rude when we went to pay for it with cash as apparently they are now cashless I’m not one to complain but for the price you pay and the quality was simply unacceptable
I love this cafe! The staff are always so welcoming and kind and the coffee is beautifully made every time. I love the atmosphere and venue. Definitely going to keep coming back.
Ate here today Rude girl serving really could tell she did not want to be there. Asked what cold drinks there were pointed to just one when asking what was the flavour she mumbled something I could not understand. Asked again and she turned away and visibly annoyed repeated it again purposely making it even more difficult to understand. Won’t be returning
