The coffee and food are really amazing! Enjoyed both the flat white and single origin flat white. Had a onehander halloumi that tasted really good, mainly due to the tasteful seasoning. The walnut and cinnamon brioche was also delicious. The atmosphere was a bit Scandinavian influenced, but it was very busy 2nd of January. A 15% extra Holidays charge was maybe a bit on the high side, but still way better than standing for a closed door the day before at the coffee roasters place Wolf Coffee Roasters, where Scroggin also uses the coffee from.
Overall the ambience was really nice, but of the staff greeted us or even smiled, and we were left standing for quite a while without anyone offering help.nnThe smoked salmon toast was also disappointing-only three very small, thin slices of salmon for NZD 29, which felt poor value for money.nnThis place seems largely overrated and didn’t live up to expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it to visitors.
The services and atmosphere were excellent.nThe coffee was also great. Love it.nThe cheese scone didn’t pass.. the taste was a bit one-dimensional and the texture was quite doughy. I said this because I tried a much better one in Queenstown with the same price…
Scroggin is a great place for brunch with great food.nnPersonally I enjoyed the one hander, which may look simple but delivered with its tangy sauce and sausage and egg filling.nnThe breakfast was nice with crispy hash browns.the lemon cheesecake waffle I felt could have been crispier, which would have taken it to another level.nnOverall, a very safe choice for brunch. It can get super busy with long queues.
One of those cafés that instantly feels like it could be in Copenhagen The space itself is calm and thoughtfully designed, with warm wood tones, simple details, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it perfect for sitting down and enjoying your coffee properly. Excellent coffee and an irresistible pastry selection — perfectly flaky croissants and baked goods that look as good as they taste. A must-stop if you appreciate great coffee and design.
