Nice ambience and great food.nnThe borsch was a little wierd but my wife liked it. The mushroom pizza was light and yet hearty at the same time. The carrot cake was so yummy and I enjoyed my coffee. Lots of nice craft beers as well.
Nice vibe for evening meal and busy with the locals and tourists alike which is a good sign. Great craft beer selection on draught and some local wines. Recommend the Kai Time beer. Main food menu but limited but pizzas were tasty if a little oily. Would return and would recommend 100%.
Excellent place for either breakfast or a dinner. They have a good view of the water, outside seating and quick service. We got the eggs Benny which was good but the hollandaise sauce could have used a bit more lemon to keep it from being too heavy. The chicken bacon mushroom pie was pretty good as well. They have plenty of options for all to eat here if either of those choices don't sound good.
We just chanced upon this eatery while exploring Wanaka and we liked it's vibe. I was happy to see its menu as it had multiple vegetarian options. Being a mushroom lover, I found the pizza option Field mushroom + walnut pizza very interesting. However, I don't like white sauce too much and had never tried a white sauce based pizza so was a little apprehensive too but I followed my instinct and ordered it. I am so glad I did, the pizza was soooo yum. We loved, the right blend of mushroom, white sauce, walnuts and cheese... i can still recall its exact taste writing the review after more than 10 days. The pizza is quite big too, we ordered one pizza and one portion of potato wedges and they were enough for 2 of us. The potato wedges were also crisp and nice.nThe staff is pretty friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back to the place.nPro tip - Choose the outside seating if you are going there on a nice sunny afternoon, you'll love the vibe.
My son and I and our friend Tony Ted were recently on an adventure to NZ and the places where we ate had some of the best food I've ever tasted. The Kai Whaka Pai is definitely our fave. The food was exceptional! My son had been fancying Eggs Benedict for a few days and boy did they deliver, he kept shaking his fork at it - which is a clear sign he was enjoying it - and he savoured every mouthful. He said it is the best he has ever had and has already tried to create it, I don't think anything will beat it!nnI had the avo smash and it was amazing!! More like a banquet of scrummy goodness right there! I wish I lived around the corner but I'd become very fat very quickly! The combination of flavours is incredible.nnThe menu was fabulous and sadly we only had time for the one breakfast before we headed off. It was definitely worth the 14,000 trip to be able to sample such gorgeous food. No wonder they're popular, they deserve to be. Thank you to everyone who works there.
