Great walk along the lake front. Heaps of seating. There are some parts closed because of storm damage, or upgrades are being done but you can still get from the jetty end to Sulphur Point.
Exploring town - there wasnt much in the actual town, lots of closed stores, certainly there was a wrong side of town. So we headed north to the water. Stuck to the boarder, strolling on the broadwalk with the view of islands, mini helicopters, swans and black ducks. So serene, and quiet. Next time we'll go to the point and follow to land around.n.n This time we headed back to the goverment gardens, rose garden, to behold the site that is the museum and 1900s bathhouse open 1908 - 1966 alas currently closed going to be closed for a very long time due to earthquake damage. We're told it's the most photographed building in New Zealand?!n.nAcross the lawn there's a huge Spanish Mission style building, The Blue Baths closed 2021, abanoned with no plans to restore. No pictures as we had to uber to the airport
Early morning visit, so beautiful and quiet
A nice walk starting at the local church along the lake, it leads to mud and sulphur flats situated just after the Government Gardens area
***ABSOLUTELY STUNNING***nThe grounds are well maintained, and the water is so clean. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and watching the bird wildlife while parked up on a parkbench was super relaxing and therapeutic. Great medicine for the body, mind, and soul!
