Government Gardens is a beautiful & must see while in Rotorua. Very well kept area with amazing gardening landscapes & historic buildings to view while walking around.nnThe historic buildings and Māori influences are very strong here & amazing to witness. Enjoy walking around & take the photos! So worth the visit! We spent about a hour walking around taking it in.nnA must see while in Rotorua to experience the culture!nnAs of January 2026 - the museum on the gardens is doing Reno & NOT open *****
Beautifully kept gardens with lots to see. There is a nice walking trail to take you through it but the map doesn’t follow where things are, so one to be mindful of!
Wow, this garden is absolutely stunning! The colors are just incredible, and it looks so peaceful and relaxing. I could totally spend hours wandering around and taking it all in.nThat garden is truly a sight to behold, I'm so impressed! The vibrant colors and meticulous arrangement of the plants create such a calming atmosphere. It's clear a lot of love and care has gone into cultivating this space. I especially admire the way the different textures and heights are used to enhance the overall design.
Beautiful gardens and stunning buildings. We were in town on a public holiday so unfortunately the government house was not open. Book in advance if you want a tour because it books out in advance. Well worth a visit if you are interested in politics or even enjoy history
Actually this place was a good quality experience for free… as it looked really hot and bubbly out there as we walked around the thermal activity in this area along the lakes edge.
