This is a delightful place to visit, especially in spring when all the flowers are in bloom. There are two main buildings; Government House currently undergoing renovation and the Blue Baths, a fascinating Spanish mission design. There is also a short scenic drive to the Lakes edge where you can see an abundance of water birds. This place is definitely worth a visit.
Exploring this beautiful place was a delight! We immersed ourselves in stunning natural surroundings, taking in the sights and sounds without a care for snapshots. The faint scent of sulfur added to the experience. Ample free street parking made access easy, perfect for picnics and fun outings with kids. Ideal spot to unwind and connect with nature!
I really enjoy walking through the Government gardens whenever I visit Rotorua. It's a shame that the renovation of the museum seems to take forever. But the gardens themselves are lovely.
After a broadwalk stroll we headed back to the goverment gardens, rose garden, to behold the site that is the museum and 1900s bathhouse open 1908 - 1966 alas currently closed going to be closed for a very long time due to earthquake damage. We're told it's the most photographed building in New Zealand?!nnVisit: March 2024
Visiting Government Gardens in Rotorua was a delightful experience for my wife and me. The serene atmosphere, beautiful gardens, and stunning architecture made our day memorable. We enjoyed strolling around the well-maintained pathways, admiring the colorful flowers, and taking in the soothing ambiance. The historical significance of the site added an extra layer of charm to our visit. Overall, it's a must-see destination for anyone exploring Rotorua.
