First time visit last Thursday, this place was recommended by family member. Restaurant front is inviting and interior has a cool layout; person who took our order was welcoming. My nephew and I ordered the lunch special to go, comes with choice of curry and comes with rice and Naan bread. He got mild butter chicken and I got hot lamb Rogan Josh. Both consumed within minutes as soon as got home. The spice of my Rogan Josh was expectedly hot, wishing it could go hotter. Naan was hot and fresh. Will come again for sure.nEdit: visited here again last weekend Sat 1st Nov 2025 and the food was just as exceptional. Instead of takeaway we dined in this time round; ordered entrees onion bhaji and samosas with complimentary sauces, they were filling and tasty, with just right level of spice. Mains were lamb korma and lamb Rogan Josh, both spicy and delicious. Service was attentive and excellent, can't recommend this place enough. Six stars
Amazing! The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and was just a wonderful experience overall.nStaff were super polite, and the food was served in no time. We were a table of 4 1 was a child, and 2 mains, a plater and 3x naans was more food than we could eat!nIt was very quiet when we sat to eat, but by the time we left, they were rather busy, but the volume level in the place was still low, so was a very pleasant experience.
Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic—every dish was perfectly spiced without being overwhelming. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel at home. Clean ambience, quick service, and great value for money. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine!

Had a wonderful dining experience at Roti Chai in Halswell! The food was absolutely delightful — the chicken biryani was packed with flavour, and the palak paneer was fresh, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The restaurant had a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel comfortable right away. Highly recommend Roti Chai for anyone craving authentic Indian food and sincere hospitality. Five stars all the way!
