The Road Traffic Accident Trauma Charitable Trust understands the complexities of road trauma in our community. We are here to help those deeply impacted.

The Road Traffic Accident Trauma Charitabe Trust was founded in 2010 to assist those directly affected by road trauma.
In 2012, the Trust formed a partnership with the Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust. They provide free counselling services to those directly impacted by road trauma on behalf of the Trust.
In 2016, the Trust organised New Zealand's first Road Accident Remembrance Day in North Hagley Park, Christchurch. The Road Accident Remembrance Day was a great success and is an annual event.
In 2017, the Trust introduced the Canterbury Road Trauma Awards to acknowledge those that make an influencial difference to road traffic accident victims/survivors in post accident care and recovery, road safety and road trauma prevention. The categories are Canterbury Road Trauma Award for PubIic Service, Canterbury Road Trauma Award for Community Service and Canterbury Road Trauma Prevention Award.
The partners of the Trust include Police, Fire and Emergency, St John, Canterbury District Health Board, New Zealand Transport Agency, Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust and Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust.
The Road Traffic Accident Trauma Charitable Trust has been established to:
- Provide information and support to persons affected by road traffic accident associated trauma. This may include family members and significant others.
- Operate as a referral service for any cyclists, pedestrians, bus drivers, bus passengers, car drivers, car passengers affected by road traffic accident associated trauma.
- Educate the general public and to promote the recognition and treatment of aout road traffic accident associated trauma.
- Provide support and counselling to persons affected by road traffic accident associated trauma and to operate a referral service for any persons affected by the same.
