Ulva Island is an incredible place to see birds and fauna. Natasha worked really hard to find birds for us to see and was very knowledgeable about their calls. We saw piwakawaka/fantails, yellow heads, NZ pigeon, kaka parrots and parakeets. We heard a bellbirds call. A fantastic place to visit with a guide.nnWe came back with RealNZ in the evening to look for Kiwi. What made the whole experience so special was how hard the guides, Karen and Natasha, worked to find nature for us to see. We were blessed on the boat ride with seeing Fjordland, yellow-eye and blue penguins, sea lions, fur seals and a albatross. On the beach walk in the dark we heard a Morepork owl. Our guides managed to find a kiwi and we got to see it for several minutes. A fantastic experience that all nature lovers should do.
We recently did both the kiwi tour on Stewart Island and the visit of Ulva Island.nWe were lucky with the good weather for both tours, the landscapes were beautiful, we even got to see kiwis which was above expectations…nBut what made the whole thing for us was the guides. Natasha, Sarah and Karen were incredible. Super friendly, and willing to share their knowledge, experience and passion.nThe four of us will remember this experience forever.nWe absolutely recommend this tour.nThank you so much.
I have been on the ferry to Stewart Island and 2 excursions with Real NZ and the quality and value for money is first class. The guides and skipper Brit, Maddie & Phil were exceptional. What really makes the difference is their passion for the island, the birds and the environment. One of the best tour operators I have ever used. Thank you so much for making my trip such a memorable one.
The guides and boat captain were enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. The trip took us alongside various coastal areas to view a variety of sea life seals, penguins etc. Before landing in search of Kiwis there was an informative video and talk. Clear instructions were given of how to behave during the Kiwi walk. Once on the island we were guided along various pathways and to the beach. We were fortunate to view one kiwi on the beach and two on the return walk to the boat. Fabulous!
I recently visited Stewart island with my elderly parents and had a wonderful experience with RealNZ. We did the Ulva island tour and the Kiwi experience and were blown away by the friendliness and expertise provided by the staff namely, Karen, Sarah and with a special mention for Natasha who we luckily had for both tours. She was full of knowledge and enthusiasm which made both tours an absolute wonder. I'd highly recommend both experiences.
