Pukeiti Rhododendron Trust

About

The Pukeiti Rhododendron Trust has supported the conservation and growth of the magical, magnificent Pukeiti garden since 1951.

Story

In 1951 the Pukeiti Rhododendron Trust Inc. established the Pukeiti garden on the slopes of Mt Taranaki in New Zealand. A Garden of National Significance, Pukeiti today holds the largest collection of rhododendrons in the Southern Hemisphere, and is the only garden in the world where rhododendrons grow in a rainforest setting.
Now owned by the Taranaki Regional Council, the PRT continues to: work with the TRC to conserve and grow this unique plant collection; support the global conservation of species rhododendron; raise national and international awareness of the garden; and increase community involvement with this treasured local amenity.

Lovely place for a hike in the bush & to admire the botanical atmosphere Loved the little library & the little treehouses everywhere! Really nice
This is a treasure for all New Zealanders. Such a treat to walk through this park and it's free. A donation would be appreciated. The large Rhododendrons were magnificent Azaleas wonderful. A very enjoyable day
Amazing place for a nice walk! Very well kept plants and flowers. The cafe has lovely staff and great food and drinks. Me and my partner loved spotting all the different hidden sculptures and art pieces throughout the forest too.
Well worth the drive. Nice stroll through the forest. The long walk isn't as daunting as they make it out to be. We walked really slow and still did it in about 40 mins.
Beautiful place to visit. Amazing Bush walks and flower gardens, always something different to view around each corner. Very friendly staff.
Was wet and misty which suits rhodos. Lush tropical area. Waterwheel on riverside path. Solid stairs! Cafe with great views.
Lovely gardens to spend the morning strolling through. Clean and well maintained facilities and Cafe.
Beautiful gardens, very well set out. Well kept paths for easy walking. Most certainly worth the visit. Cafe is full of lovely staff.
