I have a feeling Placemakers makes little efforts to back up the products they sell. I bought a Simx heat transfer unit, from Placemakers Dunedin only to discover the LCD controller module did not work it turns off, needing a power cycle to recover responsiveness. I made the warranty claim through, and was told would be contacted to follow up on the replacement. Three weeks later, and still waiting, I had to phone Placemakers Dunedin as I had recieved no news. I was later asked to return the faulty controller which would be sent to be repaired to Simx. I did as asked and two weeks later received the SAME CONTROLLER with the SAME FAULT. Again, I contacted Placemakers Dunedin and was promised a replacement module. Another week goes by and I receive yet another refurbished module, that is AGAIN FAULTY for the third time !!! So as I attempt to contact Placemakers Dunedin, for the fifth time regarding this issue, I am starting to think they have no intention of backing the products they sell. As this situation is still ongoing and UNSOLVED, maybe I can still be proven wrong. I have videos, emails and sms threads if anyone is interested in following up.
Asked 2-3 times for someone to contact me about a product. Just wanted to know lead time and recommended installer when I purchase it.nThey just couldn't be bothered - if you are not a builder with a relationship here already and are looking at doing any DIY yourself Dunedin/Otago don't bother.
Greeted when we walked in the door nice we did not have to go looking for help... all the staff were friendly and helpful but the older lady wish I had got her name was outstanding I hope Placemakers realise she is worth her weight in gold.
Great store for basic tools. I dropped in here and picked up a low-end hammer to help build a flat pack at our apartment. Not much of a DIY expert and I believe this store is targeted at trade professionals and experienced DIY persons.nnYet someone like me could find what I need at a good price. Store persons were friendly and respectful! Well done team
Very poor customer service.nDid a enquiry for a heat pump and response only after 6 days . The person was talking very un professional and lazy response
