Wainuiomata is a desirable base for nature lovers and those who value community and the quiet life. It’s a relatively large suburb south of Lower Hutt with around 17,000 residents. Compared with Wellington and the Hutt Valley, the area tends to experience colder winters and hotter summers because of the shelter from nearby hills and subsequent reduced wind-flow.

It’s also a short drive to the Wellington Ferry Terminal – a great option if you work in the city. If you have a young family, there are plenty of options for schooling, with primary, intermediate and secondary schools nearby.

The main pull to the area has to be the surrounding native forest scenery. Healthy bush clad hills watch over the valley, with many walking, cycling and 4x4 tracks for you to enjoy.
