Amazing climb! Be prepared for a challenge took about 20mins to get up with a 10 year old. I wouldn't bring younger kids up when raining or without daylight as 1 slip or misplaced step could end in disaster. Views are amazing!! Must do when you come to New Plymouth.
If you’re afraid of heights, avoid this spot. Sudden elevation throughout the climb. The top half is just climbing over rocks so wear good shoes and preferably keep your hands free.
Definitely not for the faint hearted. So definitely not for me. I was standing at the parking lot when I took this photo and have seen people holding on chains on their way to the top. I just opted to look at the view Sugar Loaf Islands and breathe some fresh air.
My favourite spot in New Plymouth. First climbed it as a teenager in the 80’s with my Dad. Dragged my kids up it in the early 2000’s and recently did it again with my now elderly dad and adult kids. Gets a bit busy in summer. The climb up is pretty steep but the views are fantastic. Highly recommended.
Great climb. Breathtaking experience and view. Amazing spot for a million dollar sunset view. Takes a maximum of 45 min to complete it.
Beautiful walk and lots of climbing on chains. Brilliant views especially when its a clear day
Fantastic view and fairly short climb. You definitely need some medium level of fitness but it’s possible to take the kids and have a short outing!
Need good footwear. Medium to hard hike have to pull yourself with railing or climb towards the end Beautiful view.
