Did a solo trip to Papa Aroha Holiday Park for some landbased fishing, campsite was $17 per night, showers were great, beach front campsite, literally casted from my tent into the water, some awesome rocks and ledges to fish from, fishing was slow but you can tell on a good day it would go off, great boat launching facilities, fish filleting station and boat wash down area. Well worth the trip, the shop is well stocked with beer and bait! Recommend the place 100%
Awesome place to stay along the coast, reasonable priced, cheap showers, amazing staff all the facilities for those avid fishermen visiting the coast. Can not speak highly enough of there camp ground. Amazing sun rise and sun set even caught the moon setting as well. Boat access on site right on the back front
One of the best campgrounds we’ve stayed at! Reminds me of the old New Zealand, very kiwi, laid back vibes, beautiful scenery and the staff are so lovely. I wish I could live here! Will be back again soon :
Well run and tidy motorcamp. Well set up for fishing and boating with plenty of tackle, bait and food basics plus fuel. Fishing did not disappoint. Beautiful surroundings. Nice walks. Don't go there if you want cafes and museums though, better off in coromandel Town if you want shops etc.
Arrived very late, owners kind enough to wait for us and payment to be sorted the next day. Stayed there two nights. Took our own kayak, so kids had fun exploring. Beautiful place just a few info to know before booking, if you book a cabin be sure to take basic cutlery, as there wasn’t any when we arrived tho website says they provide. Got some cutlery when asked the Lady at reception next day however we were asked when we checked out if we paid for the use of the cutlery, anyway cabin was clean. Also fyi if booking cabin, there is no water tap just a sink. Common areas the kitchen were also clean, bathroom too are very clean, just a bit of a mission when taking small children as toilet are in separate building from shower. Perfect summer getaway but will take tent next time
This place is simply beautiful and is ideal location if you want to have amazing camping experience or just for a good holiday. However, here are few things to be mindful of before visiting: - If you drive an EV then the power from the grid is not enough to charge it even with a camper van charger. Closest charging location is ChargeNet in coromandal town which is around 20 km or 25 mins drive from there. - There is hardly any cellphone coverage there. Which is not bad at all if you prefer it that way. You can buy a wifi coverage token from the store on site though. - There is a convenience store right there where you can buy anything from fishing bait to milk and bread as well as bag of ice. However it’s not cheap and rightly so as they provide that convenience over there and besides there are no supermarket around. So plan accordingly. - Kitchen and bathrooms are tidy but everyone needs to do their bit to keep them that way. - The lands over there is really rocky so if you’re putting up a tent, make sure to have strong pegs and hammer to peg them in. - The beach is rocky and not sandy. However it is beautiful and has amazing views of sunset! Overall it is a great holiday park and we had one of the best experiences there. The staff are friendly and helpful. Surely recommended to anyone who want to explore great kiwi beach getaway or has a boat and want to explore fishing.
We first visited here back in 2011 and we absolutely loved it so much we are coming back with our now older kids and grandchildren. So excited about getting away in this lil paradise.
Lovely spot. Immaculately kept. Good pressured hot shower 50cents for 5min. Clean laundry area $3 wash, ?$6 drier. Large kitchen * BBQ area Playground. Well stocked wee shop. Very helpful friendly staff Atmosphere & people were beautiful Gorgeous sunset & views. Will definitely stay there again. Lots of big Snapper being caught out by mussel farm. Has everything you need. HIghly recommended
This is a tranquil get away. Great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating or sunbathing. Cellphone coverage is limited to certain areas, so nobody can bother you. Clean, tidy facilities...a dairy open daily and everyone is so friendly. Competitive pricing....also safe for families with young children with a great swimming hole. Go.., enjoy and relax
Been going there for holidays for 35yrs it's a great beach wonderful propieter awesome beach great for fishing playground for children wheelchair friendly a estree for children to swing in only when toyed comes in .
