Story

The Museum is on State Highway 14, 12kms west of Whangarei, in the centre of Maungatapere Township.
Entry; Adults $20, Children $10

The Museum is open:
Wednseday 10am - 4pm
Thursdays 10am - 4pm
Fridays 10am - 4pm
Saturdays 10am - 4pm
Group bookings are also available.
It takes about 2 - 3 hours to go through the 4 huge sheds.
Comfortable shoes are recommended.

The collection began back in the early 1950’s. The founder, Graeme Craw, had a strong interest in the Industrial Revolution which took place during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. He was passionate about preserving the machines and artifacts and accordingly, collected a wide range of machines and artifacts, particularly those pertaining to colonial New Zealand.
Graeme also sought to preserve the historical evolution of one car. The Packard caught Graeme’s attention because its makers were first class engineers building America’s most prestigious cars. Hence the collection houses 54 Packards, covering most models from 1919 to 1958 when the last of the Packards were built . The collection is now the largest collection of Packards in Australasia.
