Description
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is a new procedure now available at Visique Rose Optometrists, Hamilton. It is also known as corneal reshaping or corneal refractive therapy. Ortho-K gently reshapes the surface layers of the cornea (the clear dome of tissue at the front of your eye) while you sleep. If you think of wearing a retainer overnight to reshape your teeth, this is the same idea, but works on your eyes! Upon waking, your corneas are the correct shape to accurately focus light so you can see clearly, meaning you no longer have to wear contact lenses or glasses during the day.

Ortho-K is proven to be a safe and effective option for patients and suits most spectacle prescriptions whether you are short-sighted or long sighted.
