Orewa Medical Centre

As a visitor from Britain and suffering from acute coughing and phlegm, which would not allow me to sleep at nights I called at the reception desk asking to see a doctor. I was told I would have to wait 4 days, but saying it was urgent, they said if I came back in 1 hour, it could be possible to see someone today. I called again after 1 hour and was told I could see a doctor in 30 minutes. I had to bring my passport and $NZ100 for doctors' consultation. The receptionist service was without any atmospheric feeling, and there to just doing their job. I consider myself lucky to be able to see a doctor.

Excellent care. Responsive service. We moved from a big impersonal medical centre. Very happy with our decision

Absolutely useless phone service. Have called multiple times and have been in a “cue” so when it is time to talk on the line it goes straight to voicemail. Better to go somewhere else that actually cares.

Absolutely terrible service! Rude bully Louise millikan practice manager denying people medical care and access to vital medications. AVOID AT ALL COST!

Better to go somewhere else. 1 - Always tell lies on phone. Told me on phone the treatment is only $15 for first visit and other two visits are completely free. But rather send me invoice and cost me over $40. 2 - Not good in following up, they will never come back to you with results and you have to follow up multiple times. 3 - the staff for no reason is in hurry. Won't listen to you completely as if they are super busy. But surprisingly have enough time gossiping together in a room. I suggest going to other place.

Absolutely outstanding - couldn't fault their help and patience getting covid jabs booked for our family. Staff have such a pleasant manner, lovely positive nurses making the kids feel at ease getting jabs. Jab process runs like clockwork - loads of people but very short wait times. So professionally run by staff who must be absolutely exhausted! Thank you!!

Whilst in lock-down I thought I'd take the time to catch up with reviews. 'You' are not my regular GP's - who were not offering the Covid Vaccine at the time - so I booked. The first time was before lockdown, the second was during level 4 recently. During both visits the staff could not have been more helpful, cheery and professional. It was a lovely 'chatty' atmosphere in the apres waiting room the first time; obviously the second was different with social distancing being observed at all times. I felt completely safe and respected. Added bonus: didn't hurt at all! Highly recommend this practice.

I have nothing but praise for all of the staff at Orewa Medical Centre. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful! The nurses are friendly, thorough and professional! The Doctors and I have seen a few different ones are always professional, listen to what I have to say and then offer the best care possible moving forward. I couldn't ask for more from our chosen medical carers. Thank you!

Have gone there a few times as a casual patient, obviously a bit more expensive than your normal doctor but that's how it is as a casual. Super friendly team at the front desk who were really helpful. I have seen a couple of the doctors here, they were really professional and thorough. I would definitely enroll if I lived in the area.

Do not go here! Not surprised about the other low star ratings. I have never been treated so badly, been caused so much inconvenience, and been spoken to so distastefully and caused so much distress by any service provider in my life as I have had here. Gave them the benefit of the doubt after having a small operation there, then having a nurse remove stitches on my back after 5 days only to have have the wound reopen. Following this, I had to have another surgery causing extreme discomfort for weeks with no apology or consideration toward the extreme inconveniences caused as well as the extra costs associated with the required pain medications and anti biotics. Was hassled for weeks and threatened with BayCorp after refusing to pay what should have been, and what indeed turned out to be an ACC covered surgery, only months later to then receive a $20 invoice for a $5 dressing change that had been offered to me for free and was only told after the fact that it would be an extra cost, which I assumed would have also been covered by ACC as it was a direct result of their nurse not following guidelines. The staff and the doctors are all nice and courteous, however the practice managers unrelenting attitude toward chasing money for services that were a direct result of their own mistake is abhorrent. Avoid this practice and enroll at one of the others around Orewa - I should have read the other reviews here before enrolling.
