Been here twice now, a stunning beach you can get to from the Te henga walkway around 30min or you can park at the Bethells beach carpark and take the shorter route over the sand dune to O'Neills beach. This unpatrolled beach is not really safe for swimmers but there is a nice rock pool to cool off at the end close to Bethalls at low tide.  I did have a swim in the sea behind the rock pool felt totally safe but would only recommend it if you're a strong swimmer and it was flat sea conditions and small surf. If it's a hot day I would strongly recommend sneakers or hiking boots, not jandals or sandals, it was nearly 30°C yesterday and the black sand can burn your feet in seconds.  Look out for the surfers sprinting across the sand to protect their feet.
You have to walk there , no car park which I love. the surf spot is not for beginners! watch out for the rip, and no lifeguards on duty. No dog are allowed on the beach. beautiful bay worth seeing. wild and serene
Stunning little bay next to the more popular Bethells beach. Mainly used by surfers but still worth a visit. Note that the current is very strong. Definitely not recommended for kids and adults should exercise extreme caution.
Great place for a walk, surf or rock fish, picnic, chill out, take in the sights.
What a gem! Beautiful vista's and a great outing for the family.
Walk North from Bethels Beach across the small hill to this hidden gem
One of the best walks I've done in NZ very pleasant and fairly easy with breathtaking views
Beautiful and has small caves. It is also known as clothes optional beach.
Great for a walk, surf, watch the sun set.
