Went with a group of 5 for dinner. Did not get our table cleared for 20 minutes, then the waiter was incredibly rude to us when we asked if we could order. Food was actually not bad, bit on the salty side. Medium spice is tolerable for the average kiwi. Prices are alright, probably need 10 skewers each to get full. The saving grace is the great views of the sky tower and city. Would struggle to get us back there with the poor service.
I had ordered 2x BBQ pork slice kebab, 2x BBQ Beef Kebab, and 2x BBQ Chicken Kebab for $22.59. And in return I got 4 slices of unbalanced flavoured meat that was really spicy and 4 cubes of pork slices just thrown in a tray. It was ridiculous and will not be returning back. Quite shameful to serve such food out.
All the chicken in the meal I ordered had bone in every piece, seemed like the tiniest chicken nibbles I’ve ever had and the quality was terrible. Huge chunks of peppercorn and big slices of onions only with a lot of oil served without rice. Wouldn’t ever go back or recommend.
Service was great! But the food there was really really salty!! We ordered BBQ chicken frames and beef. The beef was cooked too dry and the chicken was truly too salty. I had cups of water so that I can eat them The BBQ veggies were even overcooked and burnt. Sorry we won't come back again given there are other options in Auckland
Charged for online order and went there to find they were closed. Hope to get my money back! Gave them a chance after bad experience 5 months ago below review, but won’t bother again. Used to be good. Have stopped going as the flavours keep changing. Loved the cold tofu salad but half the time there was no flavour, others it was great. Twice recieved dumplings that were very undercooked. Twice had my online order not noticed. Dining in, one poor guy seems to do the whole restaurant so can be slow.
It is amazing. I order using Ubereats also, but they have a Google link for delivery. The very best for delicious, authentic, proper Chinese food. The place is definitely geared more for a Chinese customer mandarin menus, and the staff don't all speak English but my god, the food and restaurant is amazing. They are also one of the few takeaways / restaurants that remain open late.
Totally disappointed and disgusted how they lied and led me to believe as I had asked 3 times to reassure I was purschasing Crayfish in garlic at $68.00 x4 chicken/ beef kebabs and corn cobs picture with 2 to on each skewer. Home after driving to the Waitakere's found that my meal content was Australian baby Gabbies not Crayfish. The corn cobs were chopped as halves not like what was pictured and the chicken and beef weren't even skewered. We have lived in Birkenhead for 20years and have had great food. Its these types of restaurants who serve you with arrogance,no flinch to care to serving nor politeness just rip offs, bunch of thieves!! WARNING: DON'T THINK TO BUY ANYTHING FROM "FATBOYS RESTAURANT" IN BIRKENHEAD AUCKLAND AT ALL!! I will be telling everyone I know in Birkenhead, Chelsea, Northcote, Glenfield, Bayswater, Albany that " YOU ARE A RIP OFF, FALSE ADVERTISING, NOT RECOMMENDED!"
Just paid $63 , 3 dishes, fried rice, asked for no onions, came with loads of onion and oily rice, beef skewers , totally inedible overcooked dry little pieces,, paid for 5, got 11 tiny cubes,, I mean tiny , so hard you could call them marbles, and so many steamed dumplings stuck together, these were completely gross, I asked for a drink as I was patched,, thought it was a peach water, said I don’t want anything alcoholic, took a big swig and neatly chocked on the strong alcohol peach, oh dear, but to be fair,, they were the only place open late, shoulda gone to the white lady in the city,,
They don’t know how to say “sorry”. I ordered skew and one noodle, I asked what is good for recommend when I order and the staff got it. The skew took about 20mins to come out, and when I finished all of them, the noodle weren’t served. So I went to the reception and asked the other staff about noodle, and I explained how long I waited for noodles1hour. The reply was just “OKAY”. Terrible customer service here.
Good service, good selection of foods open till 2am so that's a +1 for late night cravings.Food: 4/5
