Had low expectations, yet they exceeded it. Cheap and cheerful Chinese in the suburb included salty fish and chicken fried rice as well as pork prawn and chives steamed dumplings. It was quite enjoyable and yummy
Exceptional food here, old school pricing and has a healthy reputation as a must visit ... many options and rapid serviceFood: 5/5
Worst customer service with lower than average food. Dumplings are not too good and not too bad honestly but just bear in mind the customer service could be really bad. I understand that the front desk member could feel exhausted providing the service all by herself. But have no idea why we are so neglected compared with other customers. Will never ever visit again and definitely share my experience with friends and families. Btw this is not even technically pan fried dumplings. This is just how we deal with the left over dumplings when we are sick of having boiling ones again during CNY
The dumplings are delicious - worth the little bit extra to have them fried. And their other dishes are great too - particularly the refreshing cucumber and golden mushroom salad and the fried noodle dishes both very flavoursome and light. Nothing flash about eating in, but the food is good and works well for takeaways/delivery too. Update: There was one incident with an incorrect order. The team went out of their way to rectify this and were very understanding and apologetic. Honest people providing good service and looking after their customers.
A small, quaint chinese restaurant that's just bustling with different flavours for many tasters. Our favourites have always been Black Bean beef, Brown Sauce Green beans and Chicken & Coriander dumplings. The catch is the speed of service and the general atmosphere brought on by customers varies form time to time. An overall enjoyable place to eat from for just those easy choices in asian cuisine. Vegetarian options: Plenty of meat-free options that are just as delectable. Kid-friendliness: Not everything is spicy or sour so there has to be something the kids can eat easy. Personally I recommend Chicken & Coriander Dumplings for easy pickings.
12/08/21 - tried the vege fried noodles again. Sadly I was totally underwhelmed. I literally counted 4 decent slices of tofu and a few crumbled bits, 6 slices of mushroom, sliced cabbage and 4 julienne pieces of carrot. Part of the noodles were all clumped together and not cooked through. The place has never been the same since it was taken over a few years ago..... Review 3 yrs ago - vegetarian fried pancake, fried noodles & dumplings. Been here lot's. This meal was not their best. Completely missing some key core ingredients usually included. Disappointed
Ordered through Uber eats, took over 2hrs to get meal, was told we needed to come pick it up on calling once but couldn't hence the Uber eats order, upon calling again a female hung up on us. Turned up cold and the wrong order 2hrs later. Used to buy here regularly, not anymore!
I think Mr Zhou's has the potential to compete with the 5 star cheap eats like those found on dominion road. We had a variety of dishes and all were cooked just right! Didn't know what to expect with the Taro Milk Tea but it was ok. My favorites were the tofu with spring onions, the spare ribs on brown sauce, and the pancake. Giving only 4 stars today as we did arrive late but not closing time late and the worker started to mop and bleach smell was strong at times. Will come back to try more dishes.
The rating is based on food and customer service. 3 out of 5 for food 1 out of 5 for service There were 3 of us and we came on a Tuesday night. The place is around 80% full and we saw a 4 seater away from the entrance, but we were told we cant take it so were seated on the table near the entrance. However, another customer came afterwards and the server allowed them to take the table. Pretty sure there are no booking system in a small eat out like this so not sure if there are some discrimination or animosity towards us. We had to pour our own tea pot also. Food was ok. We ordered the fried prawn noodles too salty, the chicken stir fry on rice and the boil vegetarian dumplings. Probably wont come again due to the poor service.
An excellent casual place to fill yourself up on the cheap! Although the atmosphere is a bit bleak, the food and price make up for this! Most serves are around 20 dumplings for $11. I would highly recommend the ‘pork and chives’ and ‘chicken and coriander’ dumplings. Many people do takeaways from here, but I recommend eating in, so you get to use all the sauces.
