Food is average tasting but is inexpensive. The staff are attentive and quick to response. Fried rice and sweet and sour pork came out very quickly upon ordering but it took a while for the dumplings to come out. Sweet and sour pork was nicely done. The dumplings had thick wrap which made us feel bloated after eating. Over all, considering the price we paid for, it was good.
I had a dinner recently and it was great! Staffs keep checking our teapot for temperature and refill. Food is nice with portion.Food: 5/5
I've been coming here for many years and the food is tasty and well priced. My favourite dish is the deep-fried squid, the fresh but slightly sweet flavor is yum. I order it every time I visit. Of course the dumplings are delish, but for some reason the deep fried squid is the one dish I always have a craving for! No matter how many times I come here, the food quality is always consistent.
I'll start it off by saying get the beef in chilli oil dumplings steamed Large share portions, extremely well seasoned meals and massive variety to choose from the menu. Cozy and warm inside, well lit. Highly recommend!!!
Still one of our favourite places to have dumplings. We ordered the pork and mushroom fillings, I personally prefer them fried as the outside is nice and crispy. The filling was flavourful, and the dumplings were plump and juicy. The steamed buns were also delicious, the outside being fluffy and also stuffed with yummy pork mince. The sweet rice cakes were a favourite, light and crispy coating with a soft chewy centre. It's sweet but not too sweet, the perfect balance. The fried mantou was nice, too, the condensed milk added a good sweetness and flavour to them. We also had green beans with pork ribs and a bakchoy soup not pictured; those were good but nothing special. The waitress was friendly. The restaurant itself felt a little run-down but overall doesn't take away too much from the dining experience. The restrooms are upstairs next to the main entrance, where there are more tables available, somewhat of a quirky layout in my opinion. Parking: Paid parking is available across the street behind the old Warehouse building.
We came back to Auckland late at night and were able to grab a table here before they closed. We grabbed a plate of the stir fried pancake as well as a spring onion pancake and two types of dumplings. They do have a fairly large range of dumplings with interesting flavours and can serve them boiled, fried or steamed. The spring onion pancakes had a cumin taste to them so they were a bit interesting. The fried pancakes were nice as were the juicy dumplings. We purposely over ordered so that we had some treats to take home for another day.
Really authentic and nice dumplings! My go-to for dumplings. A Dominion Road classic. However be aware that the service is blunt and direct so no smiles to be had here. Still in their old premises after all these years but what's changed are the prices! Now a plate of dumplings is close to $20 sadly.Food: 5/5
Really nice dumplings and good portion for the price. The sweet and sour pork was absolutely delicious! High recommend it with rice. The stir-fried noodles was flavourful but a bit too greasy and oily. Not the best service but you can’t expect more from these cheap-eat restaurants.
Highly recommend the dumplings. Some of the best I’ve had. The other food is also really good but fairly standard Chinese cuisine.Food: 5/5
The salted egg tofu and jelly noodles were very good. The texture and flavour of the dumplings were pretty decent, as were the fried noodles. However the porkbelly and pancake dish was disappointing. The pancake was instead cold man tous with mushy exteriors and tough, dry interiors. We were apparantly missing a 'pancake' from our dish and were given an extra bun wrapped in a paper towel shortly after being served. Not a first time customer here. I'd recommend trying the dumplings pork&fennel or pork&chives, tofu, and noodle dishes to those unfamiliar with the cuisine. We ordered 7 dishes for 6 people, with some left to take home. Expect $100-$130 for 6 people.
