Story

Welcome to the online reflection of my world, i invite you in - nau mai tomo mai...

My name is Ninakaye.. and thanks to our Atua (higher powers), my parents, forebears, as well as my children and mokopuna (grandchild), i am aliveasf and at times, ridiculously human... at your service!

Coming into my 18th year free of alcohol and drugs, i celebrate the simple, but often colourful reality i am grateful to lead, living a life of truth, love and freedom.

I have long been an advocate for and a nurturer of holistic wellbeing, driven by the belief that so long as our children are safe and well (which requires us as adults to be safe and well), then we are succeeding upon the legacy left by our ancestors.

This page is my forum, platform and also haven for me to express my world view, sometimes on issues that are not always placed on the table.

Join me and engage with me as i share projects as well as thoughts, issues, questions, videos, poems and stories; messages downloaded from my spirit while going about my mahi, my day, my night and existence.

BIOGRAPHY
Ko Tainui te waka ko Ōwhawhe tōku maunga ko Rere-Waitomo ki Waipā tōku awa ko Ngāti Maniapoto te iwi ko Ngāti Uekaha Ruapūha te hapū ko Pōhatuiri rāua ko Tokikapu ōku marae ko Ninakaye Taanetinorau ahau.

An older sister to popular NZ artist Tiki Taane (www.tikidub.com), Ninakaye has managed her brother, his companies and record label since 2007, and also acts as a mentor for other Music Managers via the NZ Music Manager’s Forum (http://www.mmf.co.nz/mentors-pages/2016/7/16/ninakaye-taane-tinorau).

Outside of the music industry, Ninakaye has taught yoga for over a decade and often shares free community yoga sessions with the Waikato community, as one of only three certified Kemetic Yoga instructors on this side of the world. A proud graduate of a Maori Performing Arts degree, a Small Business Management Certificate, Certificate in Tū Taua and various other qualifications, Ninakaye is currently completing her Group Facilitator training at Hamilton Abuse Intervention Project.

With an extensive wealth of experience across the Public Health, Event Management, Film & TV and Fitness industry’s, it is her colourful personal life’s journey that Ninakaye credits as her most profound school of knowledge and learning. Drawing on her experiences as a resilient mother of three beautiful children, as well as a recovered stripper and drug / alcohol addict, her huge passion for life, love, people and community wellbeing is both undeniable and contagious!
