While, along with many others, I feel very angry about the state of our Health System in Aotearoa/New Zealand, I have always, over several visits, always appreciated the skill, courtesy and care of the staff at Nelson Hospital, in both ED and within the wards. On my most recent Medical Centre initiated visit to ED I was particularly impressed by: Staffat all levels introducing themselves by Christian name, thorough questioning skills using readily understood language, and a courteous and friendly manner despite it being a horrendously busy night with 7 helicopter landings in a very short time.
The most wonderful medical treatment I’ve had in NZ. All staff from the reception, triage nurse and all ED team were absolutely wonderful. So kind, professional and thorough. I’d heard terrible things about the state of the hospital system here but that was not at all evident at Nelson Hospital ED. Thank you all so much for looking after me so well, very grateful
Huge shout out to SONJA RAE. For the past two days my son and I have been bounced around on the phone and at the hospital requesting HIS OWN information. Can’t even find HR and the person to contact, who ever it is…. is always on leave…nSonja spent 45 min on the phone with me and at least we got two pieces of information … her manner and her willingness to help instead of guess work and fumbling was outstanding…. You Rock Sonja Rae, have a blessed day
From the moment I walked into emergency until I left ICU 4 days later I was shown by all staff the utmost genuine care decency and professionalism. Everybody was extremely sensitive, caring and professional. I sincerely thank the whole team you are a wonderful service to community. Thank you Ngā mihi nui !
A & E receptionist is rude. I had a referral from the doctors. Even had my doctor call them to admit me in straight away and coming up 5hrs and I’m still sitting here. Not to mention sitting in the same room with 4 people vomiting. Absolutely disgusting and disturbing. So slow and very frustrating.
