I went to the Medical and Injury Centre in Nelson to get my cast changed. The staff there was very friendly and helpful and I only had to wait for about 15 minutes.nSince the fracture team was around that day, I was immediately referred to them. They were kind and patient and even did an x-ray without request. I was done after about 2 hours. The doctors and nurses there did great work. A big thanks to them!
I agree with a previous reviewer. Although it clearly states on a sign at reception “This is NOT an emergency department” , the sign next to it says “patients with life-threatening or urgent conditions will be given priority” . Shouldn’t those people be sent to the Emergency Department like the sign says?!nGiven this is a private practice and you pay a lot for the service you would think patients would be seen on a first come first served basis. This is not the case. I’ve been here a number of times over the last few years with my kids and the wait times are ridiculous and have not improved. Today was the longest. I counted seven patients who went ahead of us. One woman walked in with an older child in her arms with a sling on her arm and crying. You’d think they’d send her next door to emergency. But no, yet another patient that ended up jumping the queue. We waited for 2 1/2 hours to be seen.nThe staff are outstanding and can’t be faulted. 5 stars. Just a pity the system lets them down and prevents them delivering what could be a great service.
I was so unwell with a tummy problem, delusional, scared, sick and exsausted.nI was fussed over, given prompt and genuine support and care. I cannot thank you all enough for helping me in such a time of need. I left feeling like someone really cares and I feel much better from the treatment provided.nI have been to a few after hours emergency rooms around NZ and have never had such a great experience like Nelson Medical and Injury Centre.
Lovely staff who do their very best in a busy busy medical centre. It's as good as it gets under our health system. Doctor Jenny was lovely beautiful bedside manner... nurse millie very caring also... thankyou all
My son 10 yrs old broke his arm and we had to pay $30 for an x-ray when children are supposed to be free. I have never had to pay before when I have taken my kids so I was very surprised to be charged. I emailed asking why we had to pay and have had no response. It has been over 3 weeks. In hindsight we should have gone straight to the hospital emergency department but we thought if its before 10pm we had to go here.
