Welcome to ‘MY Time’
‘MY Time’ is a program that incorporates Mindfulness and Yoga practices.
I believe in teaching Mindfulness and Yoga I am providing students with a time and space to be by themselves and with themselves.
It is essentially their time.
A time to let the worries of the day slip away.
A time to find balance and harmony within their lives.
A time to strengthen the muscles of the mind reshaping negative thought patterns.
A time to cultivate compassion towards yourself and others.
A time to see the world with greater awareness.
A time to develop flexibility, balance and strength.
A time to connect to who we truly in the present moment in a kind and non-judgemental way.
The concept of 'My Time' came about when working with tamariki. I would occasionally refer to our Mindfulness & Yoga practices as ‘your time’ - ‘this is your special time, your time to let go off any worries and troubles you maybe having; it is your time to just be...' This caught on and the kids would often come running up to me asking for ‘MY Time’. Then it clicked and our 'Mindfulness and Yoga time' became 'MY Time'.
Yoga and Mindfulness practices work from and respect the hauora model of health and can bring about benefits on all facets of ones live - physical, mental, social and spiritual.
Yoga is a holistic group of practices that include physical movement, breathing exercises, deep relaxation techniques, and meditation/ mindfulness practices. Mindfulness involves non judgmental awareness of the present moment, enabling us to see and relate to our thoughts, emotions and actions from a more holistic and compassionate view point. This helps the development of mind-body awareness, self-regulation, physical fitness and our overall wellbeing.
