A first class museum on the global stage!nThis comprehensive museum is a must when visiting New Zealand.nThe telling of the national stories are told respectfully and truthfully.nSo much to see here.nAllow at least half a day and you may get around most of this excellent museum.nHere are some photos from our visit!
One of the best Museeum I have been to. On the same level as the one in Auckland, even better in some parts, especially the WWI exhibition was simply breathtaking and touching.nnFrom my perspective the museum is suitable for all ages, but for the WWI, I would recommend an age of at least 13 the subject is tough and it is quiet a lot to read but made in a fascinating, pulling-in and immensely interesting way.
One of the nicest museums I have seen anywhere in the World. The architecture of the building is beautiful and the attention to detail in each exhibit is inspiring. The restaurant/cafe has some nice food options. A must see when you visit Wellington.
Lots of cool stuff to see, and it's free for kiwis and those on working holiday visas! We ended up going back for a second visit on a recent trip to Wellington. The Vivienne Westwood exhibition was well worth seeing too. At first I wasn't sure about shelling out for the tickets, but it was awesome to see the vast collection of jewellery designed by this punk icon!
One of the best museums I’ve visited among many across Europe and North America. Interactive, thoughtful exhibition design that often integrates Māori knowledge and teachings. I spent 3 hours and could’ve happily spent at least an hour longer. Don’t miss it.nnNote: museum covers similar topics to the Auckland War Memorial Museum but in my opinion is significantly better. If you’re visiting both cities, recommend doing Te Papa in Wellington instead of Auckland Museum.
