A nice little museum built in the old steam winch house. Lots of information and displays about the history of the funicular.nnThere's food and toilets naerby.nnIt's an easy to walk through the beautiful botanic gardens from the The museum.nnSpace Place is only a few minutes walk away. Their planetarium show almost always includes things to look for in that night's sky.
The Cable Car Museum is small but very informative, with everything you need to know. I suggest getting a one-way ticket for the cable car going up, then walking down through the Botanic Gardens back to the city center. It’s only about a 30-minute walk, and you’ll get to see more of Wellington. I also liked the shop and the café nearby!
Small but interesting museum, set in the old winding house of the original cable car. Free entry and some interesting exhibits. Worth a look if you are using the cable car. It is adjacent to the cable car top station.
Sweet little free museum. Cool to see the old cable cars and read about the history of this iconic Wellington landmark. Lego model of the cable car was a highlight!
The museum is good, gives a nice background and history, is worth a look, and is free.nBuy your cable car tickets here.nWe drove to the top of the Cable Car as we could park the motor home, paid parking, and then travelled down to the city via Cable car.
