Mount Smart ist einer der Vulkane des Auckland Volcanic Field. Der Schlackenkegel war einst 87 m hoch, er erhob sich 57 m über dem Umland. Auf ihm stand ein Pā der Māori, die ihn Rarotonga nannten.
