Story

Panmure Railway Station is on the Eastern Line of the Auckland railway network in New Zealand. The original Panmure Station opened on 16 November 1930, on a site to the south of the current station. The station was relocated to its current site in 2007. Panmure Station received a major upgrade and became a significant bus-rail interchange, as part of the AMETI project, during the 2012–2014 period.HistoryThe Eastern Line was completed in September 1929, and was opened for traffic on 11 May 1930. Panmure Station opened on 16 November 1930, and was situated about 100m west of Ireland Road. A small station building was located in the middle of the station's island platform. At the time of opening, the area surrounding the station was predominantly rural. Access to the station was originally provided by two pedestrian bridges. A ramp from the northern end of the platform led to a bridge between Ireland Road and the western side of the station, from where a path provided access to the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway. From the southern end of the platform, a bridge provided access from the platform to a path which led to the Mount Wellington Highway.By the end of the 1950s the area surrounding the station had become substantially more developed. Ireland Place had become a residential street, and there was a mix of residential and light industrial development on Mount Wellington Highway. Several side-streets had been built between Mount Wellington Highway and the railway. Access from the northern bridge to Ireland Road had been removed, and ramps were added from the southern bridge to William Harvey Place (off Mount Wellington Highway) and Ireland Road.

A large transfer Railway Station that connects trains and buses. Great place to transfer from train to bus as a means to travel to and from East Auckland.
Nice station. Good cafes and close to the airport. It is really convenient as it is also right next to the CBD. Also a nice view of the sea from this location. Mt Wellie is near by as well which is a nice thing to look at. Although the place is a bit of a tip and not very well cleaned. Disappointed.
Great roomy station. However the sign directions to the park and ride need improving - tried to park my car there this morning and ended up getting lost and traveled up into the bus area bus drivers weren’t too happy which I don’t blame them for even though they realised I was lost. Please can the directions to the park and ride be a bit more clearer. Anyways, a clean and tidy place

The upstairs part of station inside is quite roomy, however no seating available to wait for buses. Seating outside the station has been poorly designed, creating basically a wind tunnel for those who have to wait for the bus. Its not a problem if you only have to wait a few minutes, however the person at AT doesn't know how to reasonably match up train timetables to bus timetables, therefore everyday I have at least a 20 minute wait from Train to Bus. Also the outside waiting area needs to be entirely smoke free. People smoke outside the actual shelter however the smell goes all along the areas where people are waiting. We can't move anywhere cause we are waiting for the bus. The entire train platforms are smokefree, so why can't the bus platforms too. I literally dread my daily public transport journey because of the waiting times and the Panmure station design. Winter time is the worse, you literally freeze while waiting for your bus, even as early as May.
One of the important bus and train interchange in the area. Bus and trains are available till 10.30 pm on weekdays and till midnight on weekends.
I was so sick and tired of waiting for the train to come I decided to end it all - I tried to jump in front of a train, but guess what - THERE WASN'T ONE BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS CANCELLED
My bike was stolen last Friday from inside the station. It looks like a safe place to leave your bike but it isn't. The thief break my lock and stole my bike and helmet and no guards notice it. Unbelievable. Also, they don't respond to it.
Went in today to get my daughters Hop card authorised for tertiary fees. The lady at the “Help” centre was useless maybe they should change the sign to “No Help” i can see why people just drive
Platforms 3 and 4 are big, so there is no way a bus will stop on the full platform, but they don't tell you where exactly on the platform your bus will stop which makes things a bit hard. On the Southbound Platform, the escalators aren't side by side which is a bit weird as it is harder to know which escalator goes up and which escalator goes down. The escalators on the City bound platform however are side by side which makes things much easier. The station building is visually appealing, and of a high standard. The Station can be entered from Ellerslie-Panmure Hwy or Mountain Road. There are 5 platforms, 2 rail and 3 bus. Great station overall, however like I said, bus platforms need to give more accurate information.
