I don’t remember exactly what I ordered but I do remember it was delicious. The Injera was really nice and I had a selection of different vegan dishes. It was really nice and the staff were friendly. I am actually saddened to see there aren’t more Ethiopian restaurants around as I will have to wait until I am next in Wellington to visit.
We had a great experience for our first time with a small veggie and beef combo. Came back again today for food. I ordered the Dorowot. My food was cold, and $29.50 for 3 chicken nibbles in gravy for dinner is way too overpriced. My bread was also cold. I want to come back again for food but I’m unsure what experience I will get. So I might not do that.
First time we tried Ethiopian food. It was very delicious. Arrived quickly and the staff was great.
Yummy but mild compared to other Ethiopian places we have eaten. If you like spicy food, make sure to ask.
Good vegan options, very friendly service, interesting interior, exotic flavours. No alcohol on the premises, bring your own with rather pricey corkage

A few days ago I finally found Ethiopian food in New Zealand and what a marvelous restaurant to enjoy it. Mother of Coffee is a very busy place on a Saturday night and after having an opportunity to indulge in the vegan platter for two with my progeny, I fully understand why. They did a wonderful job on everything offered and for those folks who may not be vegan but thoroughly enjoy beans and veg, this is the dish I would recommend time and again. My only regret is I live across the water and can’t go every night of the week. Mother of coffee is a hidden gem where only the most fortunate foodies have an opportunity to enjoy the extraordinary culinary experience created in their kitchen. I’m a massive fan.
Excellent Ethiopian food, and very good value for money considering its location. The place itself is a bit bizarre, and the opening hours can be somewhat random. The vegan curries are excellent. Make sure you book, as tables are often in short supply.
Amazing food. Good portions and I'm a big eater. Meals came out fast, good customer service and corkage was very reasonable. Only complaint was warmth. I kept all my layers on and even my beanie
Delicious food. The Doro Wat was my fave of the night, but everything was great. Vegetarian options: LOTS of vegan and vegetarian options
