Really yummy food! We got the butter chicken and Chilly Chicken and both were very good as well as a garlic naan and roti. The butter chicken was a really delicious curry, the Chilly was essential coated chicken and garlic chilli oil sauce with onions and capsicum and some other veges but it was still good. I would recommend if you get take away adding a bit of sweet chilli to it to make it sweet and spicy sauce. Overall my favourite thing about Mela Eatery is the portion sizes, we got about two meals out of ours one for our dinner and saved the rest for lunch so that’s a win in my books for a relatively affordable meal plus rice is included free.

A great place for some good, authentic, Indian food. The food takes a bit of time to prepare but is well worth the wait!

I got lamb korma, samosas, and garlic naan. I have had a number of Indian/Nepalese places in Los Angeles, and this was better than most of them. The samosas hands down are the best I have ever had like, and they are whoppers. Thank you. I will v likely order again during my stay here in Dunedin.

Really friendly staff and great tasty good. For a cheap eats in Dunedin this place would be hard to beat. Big portions so you’ll have enough for lunch the next day. Would highly recommend!

Food very good, authentic and tasty. Except the wait time for Sunday lunch when it's not very busy dine in was still over 20 mins for one item. So clearly very popular for takeaways . Had the chicken 65 and it's the closest authentic food I've had to street Chinese from Mumbai.

A very small restaurant but service was efficient and friendly. The food is superb the best curries I have ever eaten, a real depth of flavour and perfect level of spiciness. I am considering moving to Dunedin permanently!

I ordered Madras curry it tastes yummy. The flavour is variety including sweet , spicy, coco flakes,cumin ... the chicken is tender .. definitelly will try other curry in the menu next time ..Food: 5/5

This place is an absolute gem!!! Food is exceptionally delicious: Manchurian chicken is to die for, same as lamb Sekuwa.... definitely coming back to try other dishes. Lamb cutlets with original spices and Chicken Momo's with superb dipping sauces are also highly recommended.

So glad I found this place! Truly delicious food and so warming in these winter months. The staff are lovely and friendly too! We've had the momos, Thukpa and Chow Mein. All were fantastic. I had fully intended to try something new the second time we went but I had such fond memories I got the Thukpa again. I'd recommend medium spice for those of us who still like a strong kick to our food but aren't at the Indian level of hot. Also strongly recommend the banana smoothie if you ignore that advice and find yourself in need of something cooler. A real gem to have on our doorstep.
