A nice and clean harbour to accomodate ferries between mainly Auckland and other related destinations. This harbour is connected with the Waiheke bus service.
The Matiatia ferry terminal on Waiheke Island, New Zealand is the main arrival point for passenger ferries from Auckland. The terminal serves commuting residents, as well as a constant stream of tourists. After deboarding public road transport, taxi services & car rental is available
Some recommendations/learningsn- bring a car if you want to see around especially wineries not on the bus routen- or pay more for the fuller’s 360 bus. It’s actually reasonably punctual and goes to a variety of wineriesn- lots of local buses on the main routes. No good for mud brick, cable bay. Walking is good but take water and have a good hatn- Uber/didi does not work. They don’t show driver availability up front so you end up waiting until no driver responds. Taxis have an informal non metered rate about treble the Uber price. No wonder they don’t respondn- wine tasting prices in cable bay and mud brick are exorbitant for a poor selection of wines. If you want better it’s double or more exorbitant. Other wineries further away appear more reasonablen- the cruise ships had left luckily the day before. It would have been a much worse experience if notn- Oneroa is a lovely village to chill out innnSummary: get organised before you go and expect cruise ship prices in some places
