Story

Manaaki is a range of delicious preserves and condiments handmade by the aunties of Omaka Marae, using traditional maori ingredients and with a modern spin, smack bang in the heart of picturesque Marlborough wine country. We wanted to draw in that spirit of homemade kai, from the heart, which emanates Manaakitanga.

We wanted to create modern kai that complements our beautiful bounty and find Manaaki is a no-brainer with kai moana (crays and Marlborough salmon), cured meats and artisan cheeses.

As well as being a great match on antipasto platters, they also work well at other meal occasions. Think kamokamo pickle and bacon and eggs or beef sandwhich. Think kawakawa jelly with pulled pork sliders. Think horopito and lemon sauce with asparagus, fresh potatoes and drizzled over salads. And the products are all gluten free.

With every purchase you are supporting social enterprise and the desire for Omaka Marae to remain self sustaining and therefore self determining. You are helping us preserve the skills of preserving (no pun intended) and to educate our whānau about rongoa maori (natural medicinal remedies). We want to promote healthy lifestyles by sharing healthy natural kai, and create an opportunity for whānau to acquire the skills needed to produce, market and sell products.
