Gorgeous little authentic eatery. We had the summer rolls, Vietnamese salad, pho and prawn pancakes. Everything was so fresh with lovely flavours. Amy and her daughter are fab hosts, there was loads on the menu we wanted to try so we’ll definitely be back! Kid-friendliness: Staff knew how to engage with kids making us feel welcome
We were invited to try out 'Little Miss Saigon' by the owner and star chef, Amy. What a delightful surprise! The food was delicious with authentic flavours of chillies, spices, fish sauce representing traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The cafe/restaurant is small but inviting, and is on the main drag on Birkenhead. The prices are very very reasonable and the food is delectable. Seems like it's Birkenhead's best kept secret of Vietnamese cuisine.....
We really enjoyed all the food and the waitperson was very friendly. Nice to have a great place like this in the area. Will be going back to try the pho.Food: 5/5
Best pho beef noodle in the shore in my opinion . Good service. The place is tidy and well decorated with Saigon vibes.
I thought it was a fast food restaurant selling Vietnamese street food. Because there is no toilet in the restaurant, it is next to the bus stop. The chairs are benches and no alcohol . When serving the food, I asked the waiter for a small bowl, but the waiter was very reluctant. We were told our food order wasn't enough and no main course were ordered. Then why didn't tell us when ordering, but only when the food was served?
Tried the beef pho and fried spring rolls - both dishes were absolutely stunning! Very authentic and rich in flavour. I have tried many Vietnamese restaurants, specifically pho on the north shore and this is one of the best. Very lovely lady working there too :Food: 5/5
Love this place. Had the raw beef pho - incredible. One of the best. Came back a week later for the beef stew and it was knockout. Both times we chatted to the owners who are lovely and so welcoming. Highly recommend a visit.
The decor is nice, but it is very uncomfortable. They did not have pork for the noodle dish that I ordered so I got chicken instead. The chicken came out uncooked, so I sent it back. The cook prepared a new one for me which was quite tasty. However her service when I sent it back was very unpleasant. I was told the chicken was meant to look this way, when it was definitely not cooked. I also thought it was different to put seaweed in pho, I have not seen this before. I also have to mention again that it seems odd to not have pork on hand. Unfortunately I won't be coming back. I'll have to make the drive to Papatoetoe to visit Vietnam Gourmet
*** I thought I have to response to the owner's comments and present some facts: 1 You were hardly busy at all, in fact there was only one other customer in the cafe, 2 running a hospitality business and using the words "not your own nanny" is hardly a gold standard in business and hospitality, 3 It was your attitude as the owner that was not befitting a restaurant owner - we came in good faith and as soon as we put in only a small order, started using language and gestures inappropriate to a patron, and 4 I find it bemusing that a restaurant has no ice when in fact, you also serve iced coffee. Sorry if you don't like it when I said stingy, but that was exactly how we felt, pure honesty. ***. Original comments: avoid at all cost. food is probably not bad but the way the owner she treats customers, well, not at all a reflection of warm Asian hospitality. we were with kids and her language and body language say it all that she doesn't like it when we asked for am extra bowl to share with kids. what a stingy woman.
We had Beef Pho and the deep fried Spring rolls, both excellent. The lady owner is very friendly and polite.Food: 5/5
