We showed up without reservation at 6:45 pm. Gentleman working front handled things well. He explained we could get a table but may be 45 to 50 minutes before our food would come. That was fine with us and we enjoyed a glass of wine and ordered bruschetta. The bruschetta was a mix or tomato and olive and we would have preferred it to be one or the other. Gnocchi was good and the lamb was delicious. I would eat that lamb anytime. Staff was all hard working and seemed to work as a team. Good experience
New Zealand vacation day 3 - went down to Eatery Street to look for a place to have dinner. My sons wanted to try Italian. Place was busy but they had room for us inside. Service was a bit slow but food was good. Especially the mussels. Atmosphere was lively and staff very friendly.
Pasta and pizza was fine. We were not happy with the service. People serving us were in a hurry to take unfinished food from our table. It was 30 minutes until closing time so we had more than enough time to sit at the table and finish our dinner.
Dinner was absolutely A+ I had seared scallops left, hubby had bruschetta with side dish chicken which was so salubrious with a bottle of Merlot which went down well regardless. We got there early one of the first guests then all of a sudden it was full. Great hospitality too and lovely and warm
Highly recommend Leonardos. We had a friendly welcome, prompt and great service. We ordered 2 pizzas, and they were delicious! The base wasn't 100% a traditional wood fired pizza base where it goes all bubbly on the edges, and hubby said his was a little too thick, but they were still super tasty. We had a small side salad too which was yum, but quite small. Asked for the salad nuts on the side for me to add to mine as my husband is allergic and they were happy to accommodate. I got a strawberry margarita and it was delicious! Husband asked for a drink with no ice, but it came with ice. Which later when he mentioned they brought him one on the house. Overall a great dinner and fantastic, friendly service. We would definitely go back!
Really nice place with a great selection of Italian food, friendly helpful staff and decent beer. Between us we had the Lobster and Prawn Ravioli, Seafood chowder, Prawn Risotto chips and Garlic bread. All were very nice and filling. Desserts were also good.Food: 5/5
We’ve waited a long time to go to a nice Italian restaurant and we were not disappointed by this visit. Highly recommend if staying in Rotorua to enjoy a lunch/dinner here. I just wish they did a pasta dish with arrabbiata sauce. We had the freshly made crayfish and prawn ravioli which looked amazing and you could really taste the crayfish. Pasta was al dente but crayfish was a bit dry for my liking and I would have loved more extra virgin olive oil for the dressing, they promptly provided some on request. Highly recommend ordering the scallops starter alongside this dish, superbly cooked! Not a dish to miss if you like seafood. And the broccolini side gives the dish a fresh bite. 2 very complimentary plates. The deserts are most definitely worthwhile to order, although I was rather disappointed that they ran out of tiramisu as this was one of the main reasons we chose this restaurant to dine in for our last night in Rotorua, I’m sure it would have been beautiful with the espresso martini I ordered. All the dishes that we saw looked 5 star quality, the oysters looked great and so did the steak. We also ordered the calamari for starters and the al fungi pizza to take home which we was delicious. Overall, 5 star is for the very good hospitality and Italian edge. Thank you, I look forward to the tiramisu the next time we visit!
The scallops were served with the roe on which was immediately off-putting but we still tried to enjoy the rest of the dish. My main of steak that I asked to be cooked medium was mostly blue/rare so when they came to clear the plate with half the steak still on and asked how it was I let them know it was too undercooked. He apologised and said he would send it back but then we were never approached by any waitstaff again. We had to ask to order dessert and then waited approximately 20 minutes for it. We wish we hadn't ordered it. The mini doughnuts were like dry bread balls, the best part of the dessert was the caramel sauce and ice cream. Wouldn't recommend
We got a side dish chips, anti pasto platter. Lamb shoulder pasta and wild mushroom/chicken pasta. Wasn't long wait to be honest and it was a full restaurant too. I would recommend doing a booking to be on the safe side. There was two of us, we still got a good seating area. Staff are very efficient and always near you to assist. Staff are very kind and helpful as I watched them look after all the customers.
Visited Leonardo’s yesterday evening for dinner with the entire family, the food was great, we all really enjoyed it, from the chicken to the lamb to the pasta meals, they were all very nice and made with a lot of love and cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly as well and did a good job hosting us there. Would def recommend going here if you’re after a good Italian dish and don’t want to be disappointed :
