Kyle is an experienced psychotherapist who has worked in mental health, addiction, domestic violence and specialist psychotherapy programmes. He specialises in addictions, the effects of trauma and anxiety.
He sees men and women for short term solution focussed counselling and longer term intensive psychotherapy.
Kyle is trained in both behavioural and psychodynamic therapies, inlcuding Dialectical Behaviour Therapy or "DBT". He has a particular interest in alcohol and drug problems, childhood trauma and anger problems.
Kyle is also currently a contributor to the Radio Live show Sunday Mornings with Mark Sainsbury. His regular interviews offer helpful advice about how to use the skills of Mindfulness and the research of "positive psychology" to lead a happier and more fulfilling life. He is a registered provider of ACC funded "Sensitive Claims" counselling, available to anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse or violence in New Zealand.
Kyle was the NZAP representative on the ACC Sensitive Claims Advisory Group (SCAG) from 2010 until 2014. He now serves on the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists National Council as convener of Public Issues
He has recently developed and written an online treatment programme for Social Anxiety, incorporating mindfulness, DBT, ACT and assertiveness training.
