A volunteer organisation of community minded individuals assisting police as "Eyes & Ears" in an effort to reduce crime. www.krcp.org.nz to join now!
Kerikeri Community Patrol was set up in Kerikeri in 2015 after the community was looking for a way to help reduce crime in our area.
The patrol is administered as a Charitable Trust.
Community Patrols are made up of community minded people who are committed to helping the police in an effort to reduce crime. ALL ARE VOLUNTEERS.
The main function of the patrols is to "OBSERVE and REPORT." as "Eyes & Ears" for our local police. We patrol the streets of wider Kerikeri and Waipapa in our marked vehicles while others sleep, looking out for anything that is suspicious or of concern. If anything is seen, either we report it immediately to the police or if not too serious put in a written report for action later.
You do not need to have a car or licence, you need to be over 18 for our night patrols, and you have to be reliable and committed to help reduce crime.
We are affiliated to Community Patrols of New Zealand (CPNZ) which has 145 affiliated patrols throughout NZ.
Our patrollers usually do a 4 hour shift once every 4 or 5 weeks, patrolling night or day. - Burglars and thieves don’t have set hours; they are out there anytime. Your commitment would be about 4 hours every month. We do not get out of the car but act as an extra set of eyes and ears for the Police.
REMEMBER DON’T WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. - JOIN THE PATROL AND HELP PREVENT IT.
Send us a message, or pop in to our local police station to find out more how you can contribute in any way.
