Kauri Glen Reserve

I recently took my boys to Kauri Glen Reserve, and it was an unforgettable experience. The nature walk through the reserve was absolutely stunning, with so much to explore at every turn. The top tree bridge provided some of the best views from up high, offering a unique perspective of the lush surroundings. We also enjoyed the small paths leading to picturesque ponds—it felt like a hidden oasis. This reserve is a fantastic spot to bring the family, offering a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility

If you haven’t visited this location and love going for walks you will definitely enjoy this walk during your 1st time.nnThis nature walk is definitely worth the drive over the Harbour Bridge, this was a very peaceful walk and we didn’t face any challenges at all.nnI look forward to returning here soon.

This year, a new tree-top walkway has been opened here, allowing visitors to get up close to the kauri trees. Before entering or leaving the protected area, please remember to clean your shoes as required.

A perfect place for getting away from the bustle of the city, yet still within its boundary. A great trail where you can explore our native trees, ferns, fungi and epiphytes, and of course the birdlife.... restorative for the soul.

Featuring large Kauri trees the Taraire forest, the Waiurutoa Stream and a newly built tree top bridge, the Kauri Glen Reserve is a must see nnThe 18m high bridge was erected to keep people off the kauri tree roots and to prevent kaurie die back There is also a shoe cleaning station at each entrance.nnThere is an entrance from Kauri Glen Road, which is a steep gravel path hike back or another entrance from Tui Glen Road ‍nnThe 80m bridge is between these entrances.nnIt was awesome walking among the canopies of these majestic established trees nnUnfortunately I forgot that it was school holidays, so there were a lot of unruly screaming kids about so I couldn't fully appreciate the peace and calm of nature and birdsong At least it gives me an excuse to go back again
