Literally the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Only posting one picture — that of the van with over 160,000 kilometers on it over 100,000 miles — as it tells you all you need to know. Van was probably from the 1990s it is now the year 2022!, Awful stench emanating from the vehicle likely urine, vomit, old food, etc., 3 grimy children car seats, a door that doesn’t fully shut, power/auto key lock that doesn’t work, tires with little traction huge safety issue that spun out on a hill almost rolled backed into the car behind us, poor upfront customer service and no zero in-rental customer service, and to top things off, a bright purple and green color with no advance disclosure this would be the case to the van! Had a decent experience with Jucy the first and only other time I rented with them, but will never return. Renter should seriously beware!
Absolutely brilliant, fabulous price less than 50% of comparable car with major companies , older csr but in great condition and staff were so good throughout the booking process and collection. Everyone so friendly and helpful. Another major thing for the 5/5 was the ability to have totally stress free car rental. Zero excess or crash damage waiver. Brilliant for those of us who are risk averse and like a stress free experience. One very very minor annoyance, but not enough to reduce our opinion, there was no holder for the GPS
Car okay, although interior had problems eg. windows faulty, missing usb socket, all doors did not unlock with central locking. Problems with the fact they only do pickups/drop offs until 4pm. Zero flexibility meant us being stuck at the airport. Tried to change to another hire company but refused to refund. We had to come back the next morning to get car almost 200km round trip. Car hire price was very good and the service once we got at the Mangere Auckland airport branch was excellent.
My fiance and I rented a Jucy Chaser campervan for 15 days. While we had a great time due to the nature of the holiday, we can't recommend renting from Jucy if you want a hassle-free vacation. However, If you want to DIY your rental and use up a roll of duct tape like we did, then Jucy might be exactly what you're looking for. The good: Pickup was easy enough. Campervan with 150km was in decent mechanical shape, no issues with the engine or transmission. The beds were thin foam but surprisingly comfortable even for a side sleeper and we slept great every night. Although there wasn't a lot of efficient use of space, the kitchen came with more or less everything we needed to cook meals most nights the knives need a good sharpening though. Butane lasted 15 days and probably had lots more left in the tank. Bluetooth radio was a little dated and the speakers weren't great, but playing audio through the phone wasn't usually a problem. The electrical system worked well but note that the heater will not run off the battery so make sure to find a powered site if you're hoping to stay toasty overnight. The bad: There were almost no instructions upon pickup, so it took us quite a while to figure out how to perform basic and necessary functions of the van such as disposing the graywater. The graywater hose they gave us was split in two, making an already messy process even more gross. Also, the external graywater pipe eventually broke, splashing us yet again with graywater. Not fun. Our sink pipes weren't glued properly and graywater flooded our groceries one night. Fixed with duct tape. Half the window blind snaps were broken. Fixed with duct tape. The included indoor table couldn't be more worthless. We set up the outdoor table indoors for meal times but storing it was a pain. Couldn't figure out how to measure clean water and graywater levels, but there probably isn't a way for this vehicle. The sink would stop draining when it was full very annoying. Vehicle didn't come with cruise control, which is a nitpick but I wish that was advertised. Vehicle needed an alignment, it kept veering left. Super annoying for long stretches of driving. We only used the bathroom for liquid waste, but there was an ever-present odor that wouldn't go away no matter how many times we disposed the waste container. Dropoff service was not great. There were no instructions to dispose the graywater before dropoff and the service representative gave us an attitude when we tried to drop it off. There are many other minor inconveniences that I won't write down but let's just say there wasn't ever a stress-free day.
Jucy Auckland Customer service was beyond poor. We received a van after a wait which as soon as we left had the oil light come on. We returned to Jucy and proceeded to wait an hour and a half for the van to be fixed with little to no care from the staff. Once brought back to us the water tap didnt work so back out the back it went for 2 hours when they finally parked a new van out the front and told us we would have to wait while they went to a shop to update the regestration on the van. Once we were finally able to leave 5 hours later we were asssured everything was good to go.After driving 4 hours that night we realised there was no gas bottle and no electical cord in the new van. I would not recommend hiring from Jucy Auckland
We rented a Chaser with toilet and shower for 7 weeks. When we came to pick it up at around 11 am, we were told the camper is not ready yet and we need to wait a bit. No further info until 3 pm. Wanted to speak to the manager but he never showed up. At 4.30 pm, they told us we won't be getting the camper this day and they booked us a hotel room and gave us a small car. Next day, the camper was ready but with some damages on the windscreen. The introduction was way too short didn't tell us how to refill gas, how to use dump stations, how to dim the lights in the cabin etc.. After 5 days without using the toilet and many emails, we found out they had put in the wrong model of toilet cassette. They had no spare cassette left and didn't send us the right one via courier. We had to do a 4 hour detour to an RV shop to buy the right one ourselves. We were asked to carry the old cassette until the end of our trip more than 5 weeks to go, taking a lot of space in our van. All in all, the communication was miserable, and it was not clear what the next steps will be. Don't recommend this company! About the camper and equipment: The camper was over 10 years old and had 200,000 km. Average petrol consumption: 17 liters per 100 km. We only got two chairs, the booked camping table was not available. The can opener was broken and some dishes as well. The front seats were not comfy, and we couldn't adjust it due to the pieces for second bed lying behind it. There was just one adapter for the fresh water hose which did not fit to all water taps, so we had to ask around several times. The radio had no Bluetooth or working USB connection option, so we had to buy an extra Aux cable. There was no toilet paper holder or rack in the bathroom. The bed was not comfy, and we had to use mattress toppers to avoid back pain bought at Briscoes. To sum up, the campervan was ok-ish but the service and everything around is just horrible! Would never book with Jucy again.
DONT rent from jucy!!!!!!!. Worst customer service ever!!! Our campervan was super old and stinky and already drove more than 300.000 km INSANE. No surprise: Our Campervan broke down after 3 days and we had call them 15 times before we could call the AA roadside help ourselves this left us stranded for 4,5 hours without help. Every time we called we got someone else on the phone who didn’t know anything about our situation. Then we went to Jucy in Auckland because they wouldnt help us on the phone. Their “mechanic” told us that nothing was wrong with the car. A few days later our campervan broke down AGAIN. Then we had to take the ferry with our campervan that wouldn’t start from time to time, because wellington was “too far” for them to drive because they didn’t want one of their own to strand with our campervan. They didn’t care at all if we would break down again. In Picton they would give us a new campervan: but SURPRISE; they were NOT there. Had to wait another day before getting a new one. The new one is also very old and takes A LOT of gas.
I had to select 1 start in order to post this but it's no stars from me! You left a family broken down for 2.5 hours with no food/water or toilet access for 2 children with disabilites and a 10 month old baby. Your staff were well aware of our situation after they sent AA roadside out to check why your car broke down a couple of hours after hiring it. Yet jucy couldnt even send a taxi to take us to our destination or a replacement vehicle. We were left alone on the side of the road at night time. Children who needed medication but had no water to take it with. Im a kiwi and this is not how kiwi companies should ever behave. AA were amazing at doing all they could to help on the other hand. Im disgusted with your service.
Been renting Jucy cars over many years during visits to family in the Nth and Sth islands and the service is great. Vehicles come at a good price and are well maintained and presented. Thank you to all the Jucy team....
Just on our way, water leakage-and one seat sitting crooked-Change of car+Than on our journey: Only one small saucepan-We couldn't find towels in the package-There were 2 chairs, but no table for outside-The mixer tap was damaged and has some sharp edges, that cut a finger!!! It could be better....
