Story

The Isaac Theatre Royal, Christchurch is a superb and beautiful restored and redeveloped Historical Edwardian Heritage Theatre with 1292 seats over three levels. The Theatre is the Christchurch home to many of the national performing arts companies of New Zealand. In addition the Theatre is the preferred venue for International touring, musicals, concerts, recitals, community and school events and children's theatre.

An amazing piece of history, restored after the Christchurch Earthquake, to it's former glory. Posh and elegant looking, bonus is the shows which feature..well done for saving this building and allowing future generations to share with making ongoing use the love of theater.
I'm not going to comment on the show I attended but the venue itself - WOW!!! Issac Theatre Royal was all but completely destroyed in the events of Feb 2011. But WOW - what an amazing restoration/rebuild job - absolutely amazing. This city has a concert venue they can be proud of.
Comfortable seats and temperature. Gallery has good view. Acoustic very satisfactory. Loved the performance Marriage of Figaro
This is a beautiful old theatre which was lovingly restored after the 2011 earthquakes extensively damaged it. Sir Ian McKellen, the English actor, contributed enormously to its restoration by raising money touring all over Aotearoa performing Shakespearean excerpts and telling tales of his life.
Stunning renovations make this historic building a Christchurch treasure. A beautiful setting for a wedding and shows.
Lovely old fashioned style but with up to date features. Beautifully decorated.
