Howick Intermediate School

My daughter is finishing off her year 8 year here so thought I would give my honest opinion.nHer year 7 year was great! Her teacher was awesome but unfortunately he moved on so year 8 started with a new teacher whom apparently just graduated OR this may have been her 1st intermediate students she’s taught. I personally think my daughter’s excitement about school died this year because her teacher just didn’t have the experience. My daughter tried out for so many sports teams but due to her not being in “Club” for that particular sport she didn’t get in. Honestly, what a joke! The deputy principal was one of the reasons my daughter loved her time at Howick. She said he really got to know and talk to the students. He took the time out every day. Kids are good readers of people and I believe he’s one of the good teachers. THANK YOU!!nOther than that, I think Howick intermediate isn’t for the pacific students. They get drowned out. Unless you want them only in cultural dance groups and sports only if they play club then this is for you otherwise don’t bother. They had prize giving today and the year 8 students didn’t even get a graduation certificate?! Poor students! They deserve better.

I went to this school in 2013. Even though i was from Korea, everyone was so kind and friendly to me. Have a lot of good memories here, and made friends even tho can't reach out right now. For me, it was one of the best place while staying in NZ as a child came alone from my home country. I wasn't lonely thanks to this school. But todays comments, bad reputations make me kinda sad. Everything changes i guess

This one time i was in spec and I had my hat on. I know I wasn't allowed it on. I was doing a little draw then the teacher grabbing my hat with bit of my hair which kinda hurt. I said you grabbed a bit of my hair which then the teacher said. she didn't grab a bit of hair but I know she did. I was really disappointed how the teacher could've asked me to take off my hat instead of grabbing a bit of hair then take off my hat

I love this school it is a absolutely amazing school. There are a lot of sport recommendations. And most of the teachers are kind. I would recommend sending your kids here.

I attended this school from 2018-2019 and it was the most mentally draining intermediate I couldve been enrolled in. I got bullied on multiple occasions everyday. I was a bus monitor for our school bus that travelled before and after school and got blamed for trading cigarettes. I didn't such an act whatsoever. Who thinks that a 13/14 year old is trading cigarettes? I got blamed and harrased for it from students, to teachers to the principal. I was so mad at myself for not being able to stand up for myself. I still suffer from trauma from this school. Still have a big lump on my nose when I got beaten up. Yeah I might've been smart and won awards but doesn't takeaway the fact that I was bullied and nobody cares
