I recently stayed at Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers after taking the ferry from Blenheim to Wellington, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! The location is fantastic—just a short walk from the ferry terminal, making my arrival hassle-free.nnThe hotel is also conveniently close to many popular tourist attractions, which made exploring the city a breeze. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was vibrant and inviting. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers to anyone looking for a comfortable and accessible place to stay in Wellington!
For a one night stay this place was not the worst. However it could have been better.nThe windows were impossible to open, and my friends window had a crack in it.nNo hand towels were provided to wipe your hands with after washing them, only a stained white towel that you put on the floor.nWe went to the games room expecting a pool table, however it was covered up and only board games were supplyed.nBeds were uncomfortable.nWould not stay again.nThe only thing good, I would say is that its right in the middle of town, so shops are close.
I had a good experience at this hotel. The rooms were very clean, and I always saw the housekeeper in the hallways. They were very kind and gave us a discount for parking. For a moment, I almost got swayed by the reviews, but I believe they now have a new and better management. Congratulations
I recently stayed at Hotel Waterloo in Wellington, NZ, and it was one of the worst accommodations I've ever experienced. The place is old and run down, with small, noisy rooms. The fifth floor, where the laundry is located, resembles a scene from a horror movie. It felt more like social housing, with individuals who appeared to be under the influence wandering the hallways like the walking dead and smoking pot.nnAt 3:30 AM, strange men were trying people's doors, creating a very unsettling environment. This hotel seems to house men who have nowhere else to live, making it an inappropriate place for families with children.nnThe communal kitchen was disgusting, with fat dripping from the range hoods and food disappearing daily. There are only two old stoves to service everyone, one with a door that doesn't close and the other with only one tray.nnThe young girl at reception was rude and seemed indifferent to the guests' concerns. Parking was also a nightmare, with expensive council parking and parking wardens constantly patrolling the streets.nnTo make matters worse, the place does not have a fire sprinkler system, so you stay here at your own risk. Overall, Hotel Waterloo in Wellington is the worst accommodation I've encountered in New Zealand. Avoid it at all costs.nOn a plus side it must be handy for the Wellington police to find who they are looking for all in one spot
You can tell this building was previously to be a lovely hotel with beautiful original features. The features are still there and they appear untouched since the 70s. No toilets on the first floor where the kitchen and social areas are so you have to leave the floor just to use the toilet or go all the way back to your room. They said toilets were out of order but it’s clear they have never worked. Bedding looks suspect, I had no issues though. There is 24 hour check in, staff are friendly and attentive, the location is excellent and there’s plenty of capacity in the social areas.
