The hostel is good. Beds are really comfortable, with curtains. I was in a 4 bed shared room for one week, it was perfect and I was alone in the room 3 nights !nThe kitchen is well equipped even if it's not the cleanest that I've seen. I met some people too. And there is a supermarket right in front of the hostel so it's coolnStaff really welcomingnnWindows needs to be repaired bc you can't close them completely, some air can still pass and I was right above the ventilation system of a restaurant, so it was noisy because I couldn't close the farm completely room 614
Nice modern hotel. Staff should smile and be more helpful. Don't just tell guests to park at Oriental Bay cos if you go there, there are both paid and free parking but which is which. $4 to store luggage for a while? Please check that all windows are not leaking cos our room's windows can't be shut tight.
I’ve tried literally every hostel in Wellington and this is the only one that actually does the basics well. Curtains on dorm beds, plugs for each bed, air conditioning, curtains that block light, managed to get a good nights sleep!nnAlmost Asian hostel standards, slightly more pricey than some of the other options but well worth it
I don't often write reviews though with haka house they deserve one. This is the fourth time I've stayed here and can't say enough about the amazing accomodations staff and excellent value for money. I'm qualified to post as have experienced 1-5 star hotels over many years haka has the formula exactly right.
Kitchen is absolutely disgusting. It needs deep cleaning and fresh tea towels and sponges to replace the manky ones. Also had LOTS of big groups of school age children with the teachers and kids completely taking over the communal areas at mealtimes and the kids making lots of noise out in the hallway. They should offer reduced rates when a school group is there as it altered the experience a lot. Also all of the communal areas need a serious deep clean especially the kitchen which was absolutely vile.
