The location is excellent—just a few minutes' walk from Te Papa and right next to the New World supermarket. The lift was convenient, the views were great, the room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower had strong, consistently hot water. The staff were exceptionally friendly and even accommodated an early check-in, which was much appreciated.nnIf I had to mention a couple of minor downsides, there were no tea or coffee sachets provided in the room, and luggage storage incurs an additional charge. That said, these were only small inconveniences. Overall, Haka House offers excellent value for money, and I would happily stay here again.
Staff member training I said there in May 26th.nFor week . German manager . I came to the front the reception was quite nice and polite was interrupted by one other person discussing personal things the conversation was about five to ten minutes while I was still waiting at the front I could see the new staff member was trying to serve me the German manager captain and swore a couple times regarding previous guests I thought this was unprofessional and it was getting in the way of the learning of the new staff member seeming.nStaff members polite kind professional as they could be with staff although the older gentlemen to be this lodge manager professional at times and I could hear in the background demeaning t stuff member. .nThis was quitet disturbing to hear . As had experienced through the same early in my life I feel sorry for the staff member..nArgument back and forth. . Unreasonable. Ungrateful and seemingly trying to make the staff members life hard deliberately or indirectly. I've experienced the same treatment at works it's very familiar experience and hard to watch. You work the extra hours put an extra foot you get prase from your customers but nothing from management.nYou've been told to do something and then the owner of complaints that you do it and then if you don't do it the complain that you don't do it it's a psychological game and frankly I just felt like punching the garden the face because I could see straight through what he was doing..nOther than that my stay there it's fine the doors were quite loud slamming is alright it's what you can expect and a hostel . Place look pretty modern walls a very thin so you can hear everything in your floor pretty much it sounds a bit like sleeping out in the yard inside tense there is no real sound block barrier. What seems likes a group of people talking next to your room are actually on the other side of the building that's how thin the walls are they Echo throughout .nThe location is good right across the road from supermarket can hear Street noise on the weekend very loud and if it's blowing hard the windows are very loud as well.nJust saying it as it is
it's a pretty standard hostel but the shared bathroom showers where absolutely covered in mold despite the daily cleanings that where meant to have happened. Other than that the two kitchens are nice and it's pretty much what it says on the box, if you can upgrade to an ensuite bathroom, less mold.nnLocation is wonderful, super close to te papa and within walking distance of whatever you could need.
One of the best hostels I have stayed at anywhere in the world. The staff make any problem small and the rooms are comfortable, with curtained bunks for privacy. Two large kitchens mean that meal times smell wonderful and the whole place is located right at the fun end of the CBD.
Really great and helpful staff. Special Kudos to Javier for being so accommodating even at late at night. Went out of his way to help me out. The rooms are great for groups, the common rooms are clean, and the toilets are generally spectacular clean.
