Hot & Spicy Pot

Good experience although the ingredients should also be in English so you know what everything is. Just happy I went with a friend who's Malaysian and she told me what everything was. When you arrive you grab a bowl, put your ingredients then take it to the counter to weigh. Price will depend on how much the bowl of Ingredients weigh. And you have the option to have it dry ingredients cooked on a hot plate and served as is, or cooked in a soup with different levels of spice. I had mild and it was spicy for me hahanYou can also purchase white rice on the side which helped me with the spice.nNot a huge selection of drinks but they did have some of the coke range. My soup was huge! But so good. And if you dont finish it you can take it away.nWould absolutely recommend it!! As an islander i hope more islanders discover this hidden gem and just try it.

The food was quite good. We were a bit worried because we had been disappointed by another place nearby, but the food here was tasty. However, the staff’s service was disappointing. Even if it wasn’t warm hospitality, a bit of friendliness would have made the restaurant feel more valuable. It felt as if he didn’t care about the customers at all. When we were confused about an unfamiliar menu item, he just stared at us without offering any help, and his answers to our questions sounded as if we were bothering him. Even when he brought the dishes out, He didn’t clearly tell us which dish was which, so we had to check the ingredients ourselves and figure out whose order it was.

Having visited several self-serve hotpot places across Auckland, Hot & Spicy Pot is a solid choice. It's comparable in terms of value ~$50 per kg and quality. They offer a range of expected ingredients, including meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles. Additionally, you can choose whether you'd like your dish dry or with soup. I opted for the soup version, and while the spice level was good, the broth lacked the kick I tend to prefer. That said, it might be ideal if you prefer a milder flavor in your soup. The wait time was minimal ~10 minutes.nnIt would be helpful if the ingredients were better labeled, though being familiar with them made this less of an issue for me. However, I can see it being problematic if you're unfamiliar with the types of ingredients commonly served in hotpot restaurants. If you're unsure or find it challenging, it's probably worth asking the staff for assistance.nnThe venue is a little crammed, probably not the easiest to navigate if you have accessibility issues.nnAs expected in self-service establishments, the service is minimal, but the staff at the counter were quick and efficient. No complaints there. Overall, a solid choice.

Mild spicy soup is literally watered down boiled water with a dash of chicken stock. Mad pot is much better compared to this place in terms cold ingredients, soup selection and quality. The restaurant is also not very clean. The only place in NZ where I wanted to ask for a refund
