Story

Kawarau Village is Queenstown's lakefront accommodation and dining precinct.

Kawarau Village sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, facing north to deliver full afternoon sun, sheltered from prevailing winds and surrounded by massive mountains.

The Kawarau Village Jetty delivers guests by water taxi, cruise or jet boats and is open to public mooring. The Queenstown Cycle Trail runs directly in front of the Village, bringing visitors by foot and by bike. Valet car parking and complimentary self parking are available for day and overnight guests.

The exclusive location is a fifteen minute car or bus ride from the centre of Queenstown, and only 8 minutes by water taxi. There's always plenty going on in the village; from tasting evenings with local winemakers, to games on the big screens at Stacks Pub.

Hungry? A short wander through the village will turn up superb options for everything from a quick snack at the The Lake Counter deli or Me&Mee Restaurant, to a memorable night out at the renowned Wakatipu Grill.
Sink into a comfy armchair at Cru Wine Bar & Lounge whilst you enjoy a bespoke cocktail or world class single malt. Catch a game and enjoy a gourmet pizza at Stacks Pub.

And if you like your relaxation a little more tranquil, check in to eforea: spa at Hilton facility and experience head-to-toe sensory bliss.

This hotel has very spacious, comfortable and well appointed rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only issue which is a big issue considering the location is that there is no room service?! This is rather surprising for a Hilton Hotel. There are no shops or restaurants open late nearby, so finding food is a challenge. Even tried to order Uber Food, but all drivers were busy. Perhaps some snack vending machines could help? Rooms: Comfortable bed. Loved the in-room fireplace and bath.
This resort truly captivated me with its serene beauty and tranquil ambiance. Stepping outside, I was greeted by the calming presence of picturesque lakes and majestic mountain views that took my breath away. It was the perfect retreat from the chaotic pace of city life, offering a sanctuary where I could truly unwind and reconnect with nature. While the interior design of the room may be a bit outdated and could benefit from some refurbishment, overall, it was a great stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway.
Looooooved staying here! Clean, quiet, incredible staff, and surrounded by nature. The pool/sauna/steam room is absolutely amazing and so relaxing after long days of hiking and adventure. A really great stay just outside of Queenstown, which made it feel like a tranquil paradise. I definitely recommend it! Rooms: Clean, beautiful, spacious, and ours even had a hot tub outside on the patio!!
If you looking for quite place to stay with great views of hills and Lake Wakatipu Hilton is the best place to stay in Queenstown. Rooms are spacious and clean but room services like cleaning and bedding are not very great. Location is 5 star. I being charged twice for bond deposit and which later I have to call them several times to sort it out. Overall good experience. Staff is very friendly. Rooms: Spacious and clean. Bathrooms are massive.
I had an incredible stay at Hilton Queenstown resort and spa! The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet was a delight – diverse and delicious. The view of the mountains by the water is breathtaking, and the $10 water taxi to Queenstown made exploring so convenient. The property is quiet and private, providing a peaceful retreat from the bustling Queenstown scene. The staff is exceptionally friendly, rooms are spotless, and the relaxation room with a hot tub was a luxurious touch. The well-manicured lawn adds to the outdoor charm. Quick car taxi service and significant golf course savings with the Hilton room key made the experience even more enjoyable. The Hilton Queenstown resort and spa surpassed our expectations! The attached spa offers fantastic relaxing and deep tissue massages – a perfect treat. My fiance indulged in a beautiful manicure after her massage, adding an extra touch of luxury to our stay. Celebrating our 6-year anniversary and new engagement in such a serene environment made the experience truly unforgettable. The combination of the spa services, attentive staff, and the overall ambiance created lasting memories. Highly recommend for a special occasion or simply a rejuvenating getaway!
It was great staying at Hilton and the view was nice food was nice and also facility was amazing! I wish they could opened till midnight. So after coming back from dinner or shopping we still got a time to enjoy the night too : high recommended. Please note this place is a bit of drive from the town you need to have a car or need to use water taxi I believer around $14 per person
Probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and we travel extensively. Extra large room gas fire, bathroom with 2 sinks extra large shower with rain forest shower head hot water and great water pressure huge selection of hot and cold Buffett breakfast super friendly happy cheerful staff with lovely smiles. Comfy beds for a great night's sleep. Easy access to the airport and local shops. Great scenic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Would definitely stay again. Onsite restaurant did the largest serve of fish n chips I have ever had. Onsite spa treatments for that added bonus.
Excellent stay at the Hilton in a Deluxe Plus Lakeview Room. We were on the top floor in the building closest to the lake, so had great sweeping views across the water. Room was spacious and clean including a bathtub with views of the lake. Received a small welcome gift of chocolate. The swimming pool was heated but water did not seem the cleanest. They hot tub also was not very hot and there were no bubbles. Breakfast was superb with a lot of hot and continental options. Fresh food and constantly replenished even close the end of service. They offer a egg station where you can order an Eggs Benedict/Florentine. Barista Coffee is an extra charge. Parking costs $16 / 24 hrs in the adjacent car park, although there are a few unlimited street spots if you don't mind the walk down the hill to the hotel.
Stayed here for two nights in a King Deluxe Lakeview - for the price point and reputation that Hilton is known for, it was a massive let down. Parking expensive and a trek over rough stoned path to get from the car park to the hotel with suitcases The room didn’t have the wow factor that you would expect, and our room looked nothing like the pictures say. Room was very dated and a rabbit warren to get too Lots of mould in the shower, told front desk and they said it would be sorted… never was Had to ask for a bottle opener as there wasn’t anything in the room, took half an hour to be brought up. The service in the restaurant for the breakfast buffet was a hit and miss. One day staff couldn’t get enough of us, the next we had to track someone down to order coffee. The good parts though, the view from our room was gorgeous. The tiles in the bathroom were heated, and they had left us a bottle of wine and chocolate complimentary for the occasion
Comfortable room for our three night stay. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. However, several problems experienced which made it a less than ideal stay. Firstly, the hotel is quite some distance away from Queenstown, with limited timings for the water taxi, with the only eating facilities available being a ‘signature’ restaurant Wakatipu Grill and Stacks pub serving very basic food far from ‘gourmet’ as advertised on the hotel website. On our second night, we went for a drink at Stacks Pub at 9.30 pm but found the pub had decided to close early at 9 pm one hour earlier than advertised opening hours. For our last night, we went down to the hotel’s ‘signature’ restaurant on the lake shore to find it closed to hotel guests due to a private function. The same thing happened two days later day after we left. People who go to quiet 5 star hotels away from major towns should be able to eat a quality meal in the hotel’s ‘signature’ restaurant, which is promoted on the hotel’s website as an amenity available for guests. Why stay at a 5 star hotel if the only meal offering is a very average pizza or burger at the Stacks pub? The third problem involved the hot tub next to the in-door swimming pool. Other guests informed us that the hotel had not invested in getting the jets plumbed in, so it was far from the usual hot tub experience - also the water was really dirty with debris floating in it on the first evening of our stay. Finally, the steam room was not working properly and more often off than on - lots of waiting around for the steam room to get ready to use. As a final tip - check your bill once it’s emailed to you - we had a coffee charged to our room which we did not have. So, in summary, our stay was was far from a 5 star hotel experience - we left sensing that individual guests were not valued when it came to access to the hotel’s ‘signature’ restaurant, and adherence to advertised opening hours at Stacks pub. We will look for a different place to stay next time we go to Queenstown.
